Why do like, 99% of the YouTube fitness/lifestyle women promote these semi-starvation diets? I swear most of them only eat like 1400-1500 calories a day. They must either eat more than what they show in their "What I eat in a day" videos or not work out nearly as much as they claim they do. I work out pretty intensely 6 days a week and I eat minimum 1900 calories. I'm only like 5'3" and I maintain a pretty low weight.

I was bullied out a job by a group of men about my age (average weight and thin) when I was very obese. They constantly taunted me until I quit. When I was much younger and very thin, I was bullied out of a job by 2 very obese women and one was old enough to be my mother.

Why is it ever okay to comment on anyone's body, period? Who cares if people mean "You're skinny, I hate you!" in a light hearted way? I would never comment on anyone's size, fat or thin or tall or short. People are often very aware that they are tall, or short, or large or small. It just makes you look insensitive when you make comments like that. I have had some pretty hurtful things said to me when I was at my lowest weight...things like "You look like a starving child" or "Ew, GROSS!! You look GROSS" I'm pretty sure they didn't mean it in a nice way. Any time I've heard a comment on my weight, it's been in either a derogatory or backhanded complimentary way. Just avoid it. End of story.

For me, the fat comments were rare but more aggressive, like "just lose the weight!" and "don't take up the whole sidewalk". The skinny comments are frequent, but usually less in my face, like "After seeing her, I'm glad I'm a *real* woman with curves" and "she'll never get a man when she looks like one herself".

I have struggled with food / weight my whole life. I have also struggled with binge eating disorder and bulimia. I have overcome most of this by sticking to a strict sugar-free diet, including no artificial sweeteners, honey, etc. Basically anything sweet is a trigger for me, so I've eliminated them. I've done this for about 7 years. In those 5 years, I've slipped up about 3 times. Each of those times, the food I fell off the wagon with were processed crap. And they tasted absolutely fucking fantastic. Even after years of eating super clean and healthy.

SAME! I love homemade "junk food". But processed food is just gross and you're right- it doesn't even taste like food. It tastes like chemicals. And to be honest I never changed the way I ate to lose weight or anything, I just have always cooked from scratch because the processed boxed shit was too expensive and I was a broke-ass. Now, I'm glad I had to learn to cook from scratch out of necessity because I can see that it's a better and healthier way to eat. But yeah I spent so many years with 'nothing to eat' in my house because all I had was ingredients. "Mom do we have any cookies?" "No, but we have flour and sugar and eggs and butter. Feel free to make some!" LOL. You know what was cool is that sometimes they DID make cookies. And hey, now they know how.

I love my own "junk food" made at home! Burgers, fries, pizza, brownies, etc. YUM! Never stopped liking it, even when I made changes to my lifestyle and diet to lose weight. But yeah, the processed stuff, once you get away from it, tastes BAD. Those Chips Ahoy cookies for example, or Pop Tarts or fast food fries? I can't stomach any of those things. Doesn't even taste like food, for real.

i can't relate to people who say that, after eating healthy for a while, they no longer find junk food tasty. I overhauled my diet a few years ago to lose weight and eat a lot of healthy foods, but i still love junk food. cookies, ice cream, cake, pizza, fast food, etc still taste good to me. maybe even more now since i don't eat these foods nearly as often as i used to. maybe i'm just broken lol.

My DS is 6 months pregnant. She calls and texts me every day since she found out. I don't mind. It's her 1st baby and my 1st grandchild, but her cravings are affecting me! And her guy! We're gaining weight with her! Haha. I've decided to quit getting anything when I'm with her unless it's healthy.

When I lost weight, I could not even begin to tell you how many people told me things like: You will regain the weight once you stop dieting. Keep all your old fat clothes in case you regain the weight. Etc. It's been 17 years and the weight's still off. I gotta admit, I'm pretty proud of that. I also know that it takes a LOT of work to keep it off and I would never belittle anyone else who isn't on the same level of fitness as I am.
