The last time I saw a door-to-door salesman, I was a kid. Some guy came to our house and started talking to my mom about kitchen knives. She said to the guy "So you think I'm going to let a stranger into my house with a suitcase filled with knives, you must be off your rocker,,," then she called back over her shoulder, acting like my dad was home and said, "Tom....some crazy guy is here trying to break into the house, get over here and kick his ass! Bring your gun!" The guy hightailed it and we never had a door-to-door salesman ever again

Ds woke up minutes before I had to leave for work. H made no effort to go calm our crying toddler so I went to see him. He was hungry. I go into the kitchen, clearly visible from where h was and give ds a bowl of dry cereal and a sippy of milk (it's how he eats his cereal, and less mess when he inevitably spills the bowl) and its time for me to go. I get a text an hour or so later from him saying "you did it again... You need to tell me when you don't change him" I snapped a little. Obviously I didn't change him. He saw that I didn't grab the wipes or another diaper, I wasn't in the other room for less than a minute. I didn't have time. How hard is it to check ds' diaper? As I have told him before even if I did change him he sometimes will need another one within an hour. So I texted back "of course I didn't change him. I didn't have time. Don't blame me because you didn't check him." Not looking forward to going home now.

I read that earlier confession about how someone would rather go to the store and buy new kitchen appliances than bras. Made me feel sad and jealous How for some people it's just that easy, something breaks and you go buy a new something. Me? It means I will probably A year or two without that appliance.

I can't wrap my head around how kitchen appliance shopping and bra shopping can be comparable.

I can't believe someone would find it cheaper to buy bras than kitchen appliances! When we moved into the house the ones that were here were pretty old. One by one they started breaking. We had to purchase new ones or find a gently used ones, which wasn't easy. It cost a lot of money to actually get everything replaced, for a while we had to do without....try going without a washing machine for a few weeks! That really sucked! Anyway, I'd rather buy new bras any day.

I freaking HATE my kitchen sink! It's way too small and none of my big pots or pans fit in it properly. I asked DH if he could take out the sink and put in one large deep sink and he said it would be almost impossible because of the plumbing. So I'm stuck with my stupid too-small side by side sink. I know there are bigger problems in the world, but I hate having to clean up slopped water every time I wash dishes. #firstworldproblems.

Today I worked out at the gym for 90 minutes, got groceries on the way home, fixed breakfast, put groceries away, started our Cinco de Mayo dinner (I hope the Sopapilla Cheesecake tastes as good as it smells!), chilled the margarita mix, cleaned the kitchen, did laundry, paid bills, and played Trivia Crack for twenty minutes. Ya know what I want? What I really really want? A nap!!! Should have skipped the Trivia Crack I guess....

I've known my husband's friends for a few years now but still can't get used to their habits. He seems to encourage them to treat our house like their own, and I'm not really comfortable with it. Growing up, if a kid let themselves into our house (even a neighborhood kid) without knocking, my mom would have flipped out. We just didn't do that. Getting into kitchen drawers, finding their leftover food in my fridge...dude just grabbed a reusable towel off the counter to blow his nose. No, that's OK, just throw that one away..next time I can hand you a Kleenex maybe? This is why I don't host many parties, I guess.

I love older homes with charm. We bought a 100 year old home and have been doing some renovations, but we do plan to keep a lot of the features that make it charming. A lot of people, I notice, don't "get" that part. I've been told I should blow out the walls and make it open concept.....that we should gut the kitchen, make it bigger, put in an island, put in granite. Um, no. We're going to freshen the paint, freshen the floors, update the appliances but I still want it to look like an old house. Then I get, "Oh.." and a blank look. Hey not everyone wants the same cookie cutter look!

DH and I both started new jobs and until we can get into the new pay schedule, money is a little tight. Neighbor is getting her kitchen redone and asked if I could cook her dinner until it's done and she'll pay me. Well, she has made no effort to give me money for last week, and now she's pissed that I won't cook for her this week. I'm not a soup kitchen! I don't have the money to feed an extra adult for a week! And she hasn't forgotten because she'll see DH and tell him she has to give me money.
