Get an education so I can get a degree and get paid more money? I'll just end up in forever student loan repayment of a life.

If jury duty wanted you to hold onto a little piece of paper as if it were the most important thing in your life, they wouldn't summon you a month or more in advance. It's 2015, you can check in without your slip. But call to make sure, just in case you live somewhere that has lived under a technological rock in the last 10-20 years. :) Oh, and bring a book or other things to occupy you and some food. You'll probably be there forever.

I lived on 12.50/hour in Chicago for a couple of years. I shared an apartment in a cheap (read: dangerous) neighborhood and took the bus everywhere. I even managed to save some. However, I know that my background education helped me to do that. I knew where and how to get cheap birth control. I knew how to buy and cook cheap, nutritious food. I knew that it was worth it to pay a little more the take care of my body so I wouldn't wind up with expensive health issues. Most importantly, I knew that that wasn't going to be forever, it was a temporary thing while I applied to graduate school. If I didn't know I was going to get out eventually I would have been really, really demoralized.

You're really lucky, you know that? You're lucky that I am always working so hard to keep you in my life and to make you feel loved. I'm so jealous of you, actually, because I've got no one in my life like that. Translation: you really suck, and I'm not going to keep doing this forever.

OP of the person who's meal was ruined at a restaurant - YES, it gets me upset to think about how they and some people in general act. There was a related fight between my husband and I that happened after--it was a rough night. I hadn't thought about it in a really long time until I read the other confession, but I think it may be one of those things that forever irks me just a little at least.

I lost my mom to cancer in June 1013. Lately I've been missing her so much. So many milestones I wish I could have shared with her. My kids seem to be feeling the same thing. They've been talking about her more lately which I love. She made such an impact on them that even my 7 year old's memories of her haven't faded. Yesterday my brother reminded me that it was 2 years to the day that she was diagnosed. So funny how we all have been thinking about her without being consciously aware of the date. Even my kids who wouldn't even know that date seem to be aware. I feel like we lost her too soon but I am forever grateful that we were blessed with her. She taught me to love completely and how to ensure my kids know they're loved every single day. My kids got to experience the kind of grandma whose whole world was them and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them and loved every moment she had with them. It hurts that she's gone, but how lucky I am that I got to call her mom for 35 years

I don't get your confession starting with "But that's the thing:" on one hand it's like your saying "they love each other" so love is what matters above all... but on the other hand... you say it isn't about "together forever because love is everything" so there you say it's not about love... Hmm? So is the love thing what's most important, or is it not? I would normally think love trumps all, but I don't think it does. I get tired of hearing "Oh buuut I loooovvve hiiiiimmm!!!" I mean, if he is a chronic cheater or abuser, love doesn't trump it. You gotta draw the line somewhere.

No, of course marriage isn't always together forever for love but when you are downright being disrespected, treated like crap, being lied to, and possibly being given STDs, that's something you can't turn a blind eye too. And of course it isn't always about love, but sometimes you have to love and respect yourself. And you have to draw the line somewhere. What you allow, is what you will continue. She has to know that she will live with him doing this over and over - so she can't complain or act upset when it keeps on going on, either.

But that's the thing: your friend doesn't deserve what's happening but she's staying in the marriage anyway. *She's* choosing to stay, and so is he. And maybe they love each other. And maybe paying off the debt or the security is worth it. Marriage, I have learned, isn't about "together forever because love is everything" for long. If you can keep that feeling, I think you're very lucky, but also very rare. This is not to be cynical, but rather to say the idealism of new love just isn't permanent. And then you have to decide what you'll tolerate once you take off the rose colored glasses.

I used to have so many friends it was ridiculous. Seriously, somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 friends, male and female, who I hung out with on a regular basis, even after we got married and/or had kids. Then my ex and I split up and became embroiled in a vicious custody battle. Within a year, pretty much everyone but a handful stopped speaking to me. It took a while to find out that my ex had copied down some of their phone numbers, and enlisted someone who wasn't really my friend to spread very bad rumors about me. Of the ones who were left, one moved away, one got married and his wife made him end our friendship, one committed suicide after returning from Afghanistan, and two changed so much that I just couldn't have them in my life anymore. There's one other, but we rarely see each other - one, because she travels globally for her job, and two because I moved over 25 miles away. I got tired of running into old friends around town and getting dirty looks or ignored. I've tried making friends here, but everyone has been friends forever and don't seem too keen on outsiders. So my best and closest friends are the ones I grew up with. Unfortunately, I left my hometown a long time ago...
