I am a nurse and there are some agencies that will send you to work in another state, for a month or two, and pay you mega bucks to do it. But it's usually because you're doing coverage because employees are striking or because it's a horrendous place to work and they can't keep people. I findit's very rarely worth it.

One of the nurses I worked with used to refer to one of the married doctors as her hubby and Dr Hubs. She would shamelessly flirt with him until, one day, he shut her down. She was called into his office with an HR rep and went home in tears. She still hasn't lost her bad reputation and this was about 9 years ago. Can't blame the doctor for getting pissed though. She was being unprofessional, inappropriate and it was embarrassing to watch.

Being obese I always get nervous before I go to the doctors because I don't want to be weighed. I have read horror stories where doctors and nurses actually make fun of obese people. Thankfully i've only had good doctors and nurses. Just remember if your not comfortably with a doctor then "FIRE" them. They work for you not the other way around.

I heard of a case where an elderly resident in a nursing home refused to be weighed. THe nurses said they had to do it, it was doctors orders. The nursing home was successfully sued by the family.

Doctors and nurses don't just weigh you for shits and giggles, you know. They usually need your weight if you're going to be on antibiotics because the dosage is weight-dependent. So while it seems irrational to be weighed when you have strep throat, they know what they're doing. If you don't want to see the number, step on backwards and tell them not to tell you your weight out loud.

I am pro-choice. 15 years ago I had an abortion myself. My state is one where the issue has been a huge debate. As pro-choice as I am, I have to laugh when I see pro-choice advocates and groups like planned parenthood sugarcoat their operations. It was an abortion factory. There were dozens of women there. I got no counseling whatsoever. None. Not even a pamphlet. I simply made an appointment, walked in, paid up, and had it done. They did an ultrasound to date the pregnancy (something pro-life groups here are adamantly opposed to as being intrusive) without ever asking me if it was OK. BTW, it wasn't a state requirement. I asked to see the ultrasound, and they refused to let me. I was taken to a room with a nurse. The doctor barely said two words to me. The nurse just said hold this over your nose, and it was done. I never even knew until later that it was nitrous oxide. I don't regret the decision I made, but c'mon people, stop making it out to be a bunch of women supporting you and sitting around singing Kumbaya. I got no counseling, no choice about having an ultrasound, and no information even about the drugs they were giving me. And we were all hurdled through like cattle. Stop making it out to be a loving, caring environment where women are given oodles of counseling and information. It is what it is. And to clarify, this wasn't some fly by night clinic.

I love my cat a lot. I worry about her reaction to when the baby gets here, I really do. I've been thinking about how much attention she will be wanting or how she will feel when I move her off of me because I'm holding him. My cat isn't my kid, but I treat her like a being with feelings. She is very needy and even has to sleep with me under the covers. I think it's because she almost died with liver disease and we nursed her back, took her with us cross country three times now, and she's been our only pet....and we are weird.

OK, so an anti-birth control nurse is suing a family planning clinic because she applied for a job and they said no because you know, she won't actually do the job because it's against her religion. I have now officially heard everything.

I don't get why it's all right to say "Everyone who goes to an expensive college is spoiled!" but not all right to point out that there are certain careers that require that education. Nobody's criticizing anyone for being a teacher or a nurse or a social worker, but pretending that you're not limited in your choice of careers by your choice of school is just fantasy. The fact that people are imagining that "well you can't be a nuclear physicist" really means "you can't be a nuclear physicist and therefore you suck" is just that - imagination. The fact that you assume that just makes you seem really insecure no matter how much you protest.

Dag blarn breast feeding. I am happy with my choice. Don't get me wrong. It's that night time stretch that is getting old. This has been the story of my life off and on for years. DH is outside with our friends. I'm inside trying to nurse this kiddo to sleep. I could roll differently with this, I know. I'd rather not though. Lol, I guess my silent whining worked. Slumber is setting in.
