If you don't see moderate Muslims speaking out against Islamists, you're not looking hard enough. I could just as easily claim that Christians don't speak out against people like Fred Phelps but it would be a blatent lie. Moderate Muslims SLAM forced and even arranged marriages all the time, along with the death penalty, Islamic homophobia, and all the other atrocities carried out in certain countries in the Arab world.

I hate how the default assumption is that if I believe in God I'm either Christian or Jewish. LIke those are the only two choices a white woman can have.

Too many people on the internet think that if someone believes in God, they're automatically a hate filled, judgmental hypocritical Christian. No. Guess what? I believe in God. I don't go to church. I don't associate with one particular denomination. I cuss, I drink, I have premarital sex. I also believe in evolution. But yes, I believe in God. I think God is good and he answers prayers. I also believe my deceased brother is in Heaven. I KNOW, SHOCKER.

I knew a guy who had "emotional affairs." They didn't always stay emotional. The way he did it was bring the couples together a lot - vacation together, eating out. His wife always pretended (or maybe believed, since he was SUCH a nice guy, a good Christian, and a community leader) that they were just friendships. Meantime he was buying these ladies little gifts, sending them admiring notes, taking them to visit friends when they couldn't afford to go themselves, joining clubs they belonged to, etc. He integrated them into his life and unless you really KNEW, and read the looks between him and his lady friends, you wouldn't KNOW, only suspect. He tried to make me one of them. Brought me home from a meeting at night and kissed me passionately. It was weird from this so-called friend and buddy of my H. Glad we moved shortly after that because it was awkward.

I am a Christian but I get annoyed when I post something to FB and someone tells me to just pray. Yes, I believe prayer is an awesome thing but when I have a question, want to complain about something that I have seen, or I have a statement about something on the news I don't want you to answer me with just pray.

I'm a big fan of Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey)...not big enough to watch that Fifty Shades of Crap though, I love him for the Fall and Once Upon a Time. What I find really sick is that people are "shipping" him and the girl playing Ana, and wanting him to break up with his wife so they can get their fantasy "ship". Lets hope a couple with a new baby get a divorce so we can see a fictional couple become real. WTH is wrong with people? If this was someone you knew in real life and you were wishing they'd break up with their wife, you'd be considered a tad odd.

All I meant was that if one of the Duggar kids is gay, he/she wouldn't be able to be their true selves-you know, gay! Their religion prohibits and oppresses the gays. And I do believe they are instilled fear of their parents and God. so with that said, yes, that would be a miserable way to live your true life if you can't truly be who you are (gay) all in the name of God. I didn't speak about reprogramming camp, but I wouldn't put it past them to do something like that. They are very disciplined family and they must present themselves in a certain way because their religious beliefs pretty much dictate so. Their lifestyle certainly is intriguing and I sure the heck ain't jealous. But when you won't/can't let your kids be gay, that is wrong. Why would you make your child feel bad about who he/she naturally loves? Granted, this is a "what if" scenario..but it happens all the time with families that have such hard core Christian fundamentalist beliefs. Westboro Church anyone?? Let's pray the gay away!!

I believe in God and eternal life. I also believe the majority of the Bible has be formed into the beliefs of man not the actual Word of God. You can't tell me that Man wrote down everything exactly how it happened and was said. The bible has been translated so many times that a lot of the true meaning is lost. Then you have Christianity with many denominations. How is it one book with multiple ways to follow it. Everyone interprets it differently. Couldn't that also mean that way back in the day when the Bible was written that the people who viewed the events interpreted it differently or the stories they heard changed from one mouth to the next. Studies show when a group of people witness an event that many different accounts of what happened are recorded. The person next to you might remember it differently than you do. It happens now and I am positive it happened then too. Then you take into account that men had more power than women. Why wouldn't man write a book to keep the women submissive to the men and make them fear Hell for not following the word of God. I believe people were becoming powerful with spirit and things were written and forced on others to control them. I feel there is to much contradiction in the Bible. One verse will say God is a loving God and a forgiving God.(Which I believe) Then another verse will say that a woman shall be stoned to death for not being a virgin on her wedding day. How can a forgiving God not forgive but tell people to stone someone for disobedience. To many questions and sketchy accounts for me to follow what man has written. I follow my heart.

Speaking of books... I wish I could find a book to help me find peace with my faith. Books on Christianity are too one-sided, but people who don't believe are too one-sided the other way. Aren't there views somewhere in the middle? Going crazy trying to figure it all out.
