Dinner with my two gf's on Friday night was sooo much fun. I laughed so much my stomach hurt the next day. The rest of me was in bad shape too because we had 2 bottles of wine with dinner. The restaurant was cute and the food was great. I can't wait to take my dh there. It felt like no time had passed since we last hung out, so no awkwardness at all. Those are the best friendships, low maintenance and you can pick up where you left off. It was nice to catch up and my one friend who has a tendency to get braggy, wasn't doing it all. We're trying to schedule a girl's weekend, maybe in Florida because my one friend's mil has a condo right on the beach. We went there a couple of years ago and it was wonderful. I'd love to go again.

I once worked a double shift at a restaurant and it was so busy I had no time to eat. Of course my hunger was only exacerbated by seeing plate after plate of delicious food leave the kitchen and get devoured by hungry customers. I felt like a hungry wolf by the end of the night. I grabbed a stale hamburger bun that had been shoved to the side of the metal flat grill, a bun that had literally been sitting there for twelve hours, burnt around the edges and soaked with grease, and ate it. It was absolutely delicious.

I used to get free meals at almost every restaurant I ever worked at. While nice, you did get sick of the food after a while. It would all start to smell and taste the same. Saved me a ton of money though, when I was a student, so I never complained. I just used to long for the days when I could afford to grocery shop and just buy whatever I wanted!

I'm on spring break right now, so I am spending a chunk of the next two weeks experimenting with things in the kitchen. Today I am attempting to make tonkotsu ramen broth and chasu pork from scratch ..... my house smells AWESOME, and I can't believe I don't get to eat this until WEDNESDAY. I just hope homemade ramen matches up to restaurant ramne! #whatsfordinner ... eventually.

I used to work with a woman whose main job was a health inspector for restaurants. She told me every buffet has germs in it. Not really from workers, more from customers. If a person doesn't wash their hands after pooping, and they touch a bunch of utensils at the buffet, other people touch those utensils and get the bacteria on their hands. If one of those people accidentally (or purposely) touches the food, the food gets the bacteria. Restaurants do not get shut down for this, they just get fined, and you will never hear about it. But it happens to every buffet, every single day...it can't really be avoided because there are nasty people out there. I haven't eaten at a buffet in 13 years and I never will. All restaurants have issues, but buffets are the worst.

Went out on a date with husband tonight, was in the middle of getting ready and husband's friend arrives, depressed because he got dumped (again). So, I felt bad but what the hell...this is the only night my husband had off and we wanted to go out to the dinner and movie! Husband felt bad and in the end, sad sack invites himself along. I swallow my annoyance because I don't know and then we go out. We go out to dinner, movie and th bookstore because that was in our plans. Whole night, friend complains that the restaurant sucked, the movie wasn't what HE would have seen. Finally, after being accused of making him the "third wheel" I just said out loud in the bookstore, "You are the 3rd wheel because you invited yourself and MADE yourself that." I am now pissed at husband for not telling his friend to go home, pissed at myself for being a bitch and pissed at the friend. Nigh ruined.

As a former waitress I had so many pet peeves! I guess the top three were: people who let their kids run around the restaurant and screech and carry on. They would act oblivious and didn't seem to care that not only were they annoying other customers but they were putting their children at risk, since waitstaff are often carrying hot plates and drinks. The next one would have to be cheap tippers. I understand some people are on a budget, but when you realize waiters and waitresses are usually paid below minimum wage I don't know how you wouldn't be ashamed of yourself for stiffing them. Finally, my last pet peeve would have to be people who come into a certain type of place (like a steakhouse) and then loudly complain that you didn't have enough vegetarian options or enough seafood options. Well, then go to a vegetarian or seafood restaurant! Jerks.

Dh picked up chinese last night and when he brought it home we realized that they had given us not only our food, but probably some one else's order. We had already unpacked it and even opened the containers, trying to figure out what was going on. I didn't call the restaurant last night because honestly I was starving and I didn't want to do with it. I should go there today and tell them and pay for the extra food, right? Dh says it was their fault so no I shouldn't, but I would feel really guilty if I didn't do something. ????

If you had an 8 year old and a 3 year old, would you run into a restaurant to get takeout and leave them in the car? (Take the key with you and lock the doors). The restaurant is floor to ceiling windows all along the front, so you can see the entire car from the inside of the restaurant the entire time you are in there, and the car is parked right in front of the restaurant, nothing blocking the view. 50 degree day, no chance of overheating.

So, romantic weekend is coming up, nice right? Nope. I am have been cleaning, getting our plans set, doing a good budget, looking up restaurants. The ONE thing I expect him to do, pack his fucking bag, he puts off and will do the morning we leave. WTF? We are getting up at seven a.m. so I doubt his ass will wake up to pack his shit. I am not doing it. I am not going to give in as usual and pack his suitcase. If he forgets something, tough.
