I am not a smoker hater at all, more power to ya. But I work in a hospital nursery and feel bad for the babies who are brought to the nursery and their blankets and clothes smell like smoke.

I understand wanting to vent about the horrible stuff in life. I'm a nurse. I see some pretty messed up stuff too. I get that people can't handle all the details though. Luckily we have access to therapists through EAP. Sometimes, you just have to talk about it. People can be so horrible.

My step brother diagnosed his own Rhabdomyolysis using Google. At the hospital everyone from the front desk clerk to the nurses to the doctor scoffed at him and told him in no uncertain terms did he have Rhabdomyolysis. What did he end up having? Rhabdomyolysis. Stop assuming we're all morons. Plenty of patients have the mental capacity to discern reputable online data from the rubbish and we have the added advantage of knowing our own bodies better than you do.

Your OB/Your OB's nurse HATE that stupid book "What to expect when you're expecting". Do yourself a favor and don't tell them you're reading it. Worse? saying something like "Well the BOOK said this". Just STFU.

I don't work in a medical office but I work with high risk obgyn offices all day. I literally just got off the phone with a nurse who thought it appropriate to tell me about her patient being an IV drug user and how they have to take blood from her feet because her veins are so bad.

I work in healthcare and yes, it's a total freak show sometimes. People will tell you EVERYTHING when they see a uniform or white coat or scrubs. They just think you want to know about their poop, sex lives, perversions, eating habits, what came out of their nose, how their pee smells, etc. I have seen and heard it all. Case in point, last time I worked a hospital floor this guy whipped out his dick for me to see a mole on it and wanted to know what I thought about it. At the time I was a student nurse and I was just supposed to go in and check his blood pressure.

My daughter is 2 and a half, she is my second child and before having kids I worked in early childhood education for nearly a decade. Needless to say I have a very good understanding of developmental mental milestones and the like. Long story short, I am certain she has a language disorder, things just aren't quite right with her. We've had her hearing tested (and she is having another follow up hearing test next month), I know her hearing is fine, but she doesn't seem to understand me at all unless I give her very specific non verbal cues while I talk to her. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time getting her doctor and child health nurse to take me seriously. I know the sooner we get her assessed and get her some help the better off she will be but they don't even want to put her on the waiting list till she's three, and then she'll have to wait on the waiting list at least 6 months before even seeing anyone, and then another few months to wait on results and work out a plan. I don't want to wait close to a year to get her the help I know she needs now!! It's so frustrating. I'm just going to have keep at them, call around, and see if I can get the ball rolling sooner.

I think scrubs can be hot. I have a fantasy of a woman wearing a scrub top with just panties on the bottom, or scrubs on the bottom and nothing on top. Way better than some fake nurse costume with a red cross on it.

I just cam across a childfree facebook group that posts nothing but horrifyingly scared comments about the terrible things children do that they could not handle. It made me laugh as a mom. Yes, you do get used to being pooped, peed and puked on. Ask a nurse, they do a lot grosser things than parents.
