I'm not a good hostess. I dislike having people stay with me because it's too much pressure to entertain them and to ensure they're having a great time. I'm always worried about everything. Are they having fun or are they bored, did they like the restaurant, did they like the movies I rented, are we doing enough things and going enough places or do they just want to stay home and relax, did they sleep well, are they too cold or too hot...??? Ugh. Hate it!

I finally watched the 1940's movie "Gas Light" where the term "Gaslighting" as emotional abuse comes from. That is some crazy shit he was doing to her. My ex did it on a milder level - I swear he would throw away things of mine so I'd think I'd lost them. He also told me we had been to a restaurant and even told me what I ordered, even though I KNOW we had never been there. I even went to the doctor thinking I had a brain tumor or something. Asshole. Extra crispy hot place in hell reserved for him.

Why do some people have to be such downers? You tell them you are going on a nice vacation, "Oh I hear the weather is terrible there this time of year," You mention your DH is taking you out to dinner at a decent restaurant "Oh last time we went there we had horrible service," You mention that you have a new job starting next week "Oh I heard that company is going downhill, I'd be careful if I were you," GEE THANKS

It's so funny to think about the difference between the first Valentine's Day DH and I spent together vs. now, First one: we went out to a fancy restaurant, he bought me a spa gift card and roses, and we went to a romantic movie together. This year--he got me the roses, but nothing else besides a lot of my favorite candy. I cooked a steak with bleu cheese sauce at home and we stayed in and watched "Airplane!" on Netflix. Most definitely more low key, that's for sure!

I think some people actually act like assholes in restaurants simply to cop a free meal. My dad told me an old scam was to bring a shard of broken glass with you into a restaurant and slip in onto your plate when you were almost done and then jump up and act irate when you "discovered" it. Management would then have to comp the meal. Wow, what a lowlife thing to do!

I just saw a post in my yard sale group on FB that one of the members set up a Go Fund Me to help her with $400 to get a nutritionist for 6 months because that was a requirement by her medical insurance in order for them to give her the weight loss surgery. She said she had no job and was offering pet sitting services. I thought it was the strangest thing. Her picture was her in a restaurant, long fake nails, long fake lashes, two gaudy gold rings, 3 gold necklaces, and iphone 6 in her hand. I judged her a little bit.

Here I go hiding you! It's not even February (your birthday) yet and you are already talking about your birthday and posting astrological posts and glittery happy birthday to me bullshit. Every year, all month long. Your birthday is only one day, and I don't have a problem with you being the birthday queen for THAT day, but not all fucking month! And you always end up at some shithole restaurant like Applebees for TGI Fridays! It's not like you take a 3 week Caribbean cruise or get doused with diamonds every day the whole month. Get over yourself, you are not a 14 year old girl!! I'm in bad mood and this just annoyed the phuck outta me.

You don't get to have hurt feelings if I have entertained you and your husband about 6 times and you never have us over (or ask us to drinks at a restaurant-whatevs). At some point we feel like we're chasing your friendship and that's weird to us.

You're not actually a vegan if you aren't a full-time, ethical vegan. There's really no such thing as "vegan on weekdays". What you are doing is following a plant-based diet. I understand use of the term to make things simple for servers in restaurants, but veganism is the practice of abstaining from all animal products (as far as you possibly can, obviously it's not possible to eliminate all harm such as animals killed when farming grains). It's NOT just a diet. Sorry if this seems douchey or whatever but it's important for ethical vegans to be able to make the distinction, and the fact that we already have to preface "vegan" with ethical is bad enough, given that the term originated as a social movement to prevent harm to animals as much as we can, not the latest fad diet of the week.

I am wary when non-vegans suggest a restaurant with good salads. First: just because I'm vegan doesn't mean I always want a salad. And second, most people have no idea about the size and content of my salads. Normally at these restaurants, by the time I omit the non-vegan stuff, I'm left with sad greens, celery, cherry tomatoes and cabbage, dry . Meh. Not so good.
