I (stupidly) thought the right-wing nuts would back off a little after yesterday’s inauguration. Today I read that QAnon is saying DT (I don’t have to say his name anymore!) ‘let’ Joe Biden be inaugurated because he’s still controlling what goes on in the White House. This last straw is what gave me the final push to ditch Facebook for a while.

Every social media company that allowed propaganda that radicalized homegrown terrorists needs to be held accountable. Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Parler. All of them were complicit in creating these extremists.

Well, Parler is down, so all the crazies returned to Facebook. I just love reporting the insane Q crap. It's so hard to wrap my head around the fact that half of our country believes that HRC, Biden, and the pope are drinking the blood of trafficked children with Lady Gaga. But, here we are.

I am so tired of the terrorists and their supports yelling about the 1st amendment. The first amendment is not absolute. You do not have the right to yell fire in a crowded theater. Slander and libel are a thing because it's criminal to say things that are not true. And you are not allowed to incite violence. Alex Jones, Rush Limbaugh, and the like should be prosecuted and not allowed to spew complete falsehoods. It should have never gotten this far. Twitter and Facebook putting a tag on things that aren't true isn't good enough. Delete those posts and warn the people that share them that their account will be suspended if they keep doing it. And then delete their accounts if they don't stop. Enough.

Relationships

I can't break up with people. I'm literally incapable of it. I had selective mutism as a child, which is where in certain situations, you become literally unable to speak. Elements of it I still have problems with, but my doctor told me it's not really diagnosed in adults. And twice I've stayed in relationships YEARS longer than I wanted to because I was unable to say even something really simple like, "I'm sorry, but I want to break up." There are other situations where I lose the ability to speak too, if I'm extremely angry or upset. So in short, apparently I'm just completely incapable of having adult relationships. I'm getting CBT for this issue but so far it's not doing anything. Maybe I have to take the Chandler Bing route and write my breakups on a note. Someone did break up with me on Facebook after six years when I was in my 20s, but I feel a bit too old to be doing that now.

We live in a 55+ community. Our elderly neighbors have been having medical issues so we took Thanksgiving dinner to them. Offered to do it for Christmas, too (it’s just the two of us....by choice) and they were thrilled. I went over the menu with them to make sure they would eat everything. Last night their daughter contacted me on Facebook to tell me she’ll be there for Christmas (which I already knew and planned for three dinners instead of two). She just wanted me to know that she’s vegan and gluten free. Da Hell?! Oh, and she’s perfectly capable of preparing a meal for her parents on Christmas Day! How should I respond to that???

Honestly if you refuse the vaccine without a valid medical reason I think you should be banned from public spaces. Somewhere in New York had to do that because they had a huge measles outbreak, and basically all unvaccinated children were banned from public spaces. Needs to be the same situation for covid, IMO. If you're going to be a complete asshole and risk other people's lives, you should rightly be shunned IMO. You're literally risking people's lives because you saw some stupid conspiracy memes on Facebook.

I only have one coworker and we're facebook friends. My boss and I decided years ago not to be facebook friends though. I'm facebook friends with a few of my favorite clients, too. Not many, but a few. But my facebook is pretty benign. Family pics and Star Trek stuff mostly. And dog pictures. Lots and lots of pictures of my dogs. I try not to let my page get too political. Like, I would post EVERYONE VOTE, not EVERYONE VOTE FOR (insert candidate). But I don't mind saying it here: Trump is a repugnant human being and I'm over the moon that he lost.

A guy I know commented on a Trumper's facebook page today. The Trumper was spouting off that he's having Thanksgiving for 18 at his house just like he always does, and masks be damned. Best facebook comment ever: "Who needs herd immunity when we have idiots like you? Your death certificates will say 'death by stupidity."

I suspect that both of our kids are Trumpublicans (LOVE that word btw!). Our son posts right wing nut shit on facebook all the time. I'd also bet that neither of them are even registered to vote (they're in their 40's). Their bio mom was on the dole all her life then decided that Dems were crazy and started spouting anti-everyone crap. I once told our son that if he didn't vote he doesn't have the right to bitch and that shut him up.
