My takeaway from the Democrat convention. Hillary Clinton speaking was unnecessary. No one cares what a failed presidential candidate has to say, especially a Clinton. Her husband had some nerve talking about Trump's behavior in the oval office. Like.... WHAT???? When his own behavior in office was disgusting, scandalous and let's see what happened on Jeffrey Epstein's plane, okay, Billy? Obama's speech was polished, for a change. He eliminated some of the uhs and duhs that his talking style is known for. But the speech had no substance. It was designed to criticize Trump but offered no substantial ideas for changing our country. Thugs are out of control, big cities are rioting, they're trying to get rid of the police who are the people who can help, and we listen to two Black-privileged Obamas mouthing platitudes? Dems displayed a pointless exercise in trying to tear down the present administration but offered nothing to put in its place. Now let's see what the Republicans say.

A year ago, I was working a menial p/t job making about $14K a year. I did that for 7 years after being a SAHM for 7 years. Got a f/t job that paid way more than I ever thought I'd make, but was laid off when COVID hit. I got a new job last month, but had to take a pay cut from the job I was laid off from. Well, after only a month, I was offered a promotion. $20K more than the high-paying job I was laid off from. My total compensation will be close to $100K. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could do that after being out of the workforce for so long. And I'm not like an engineer or something. I do admin work. Dh has never really come out and say it, but he's made snarky comments along the way. First about how I don't contribute anything financially, then insinuated that I was laid off because the job was over my head, not because of COVID. This promotion shut him up and he's suddenly supportive. F him. This promotion means I can afford to leave him now.

I use to work in the sheriff's office and one of my admin coworkers had sex dreams about one of the officers.... and TOLD HIM ABOUT THEM! I couldn't believe it. She's happily married and he was... married... to a terrible woman that cheated on him all the time and they're now divorced, but still. I will never understand why she felt the need -as a married woman- to tell him -a married man- that she had graphic sex dreams about him. I did it. I reported my employer to osha. The hospital I work for moved the administrative workers into an old, refurbished factory. It looks nice, but it's like putting lipstick on a pig. I scheduled ANOTHER doctor's appointment and then filed an informal complaint with osha. They keep telling us everything is up to code. We'll see, assholes.

I work full-time and remote, but we have to downsize 2 equivalent FTEs will happen this year. Just not sure who and when. Boss has been vague on details because I'm guessing she doesn't know either. I saw on Nextdoor about a small coffee company in my neighborhood that was looking for extra admin help for about 10-20 hrs/week. The pay is low $15.25/hour with coffee benefits and the work is out of his home. I don't even drink or like coffee, but I'm kinda curious to learn how to run a small biz. I'm taking an Entrepreneurship program now and went to eventually start my online Yoga classes, but this retail side seems interesting. I emailed the owner and we have a meeting tomorrow AM. Am I crazy thinking about adding more to my plate now especially the fact that we're still in a pandemic and our County has been slower in opening back up due to all these cases.

I've been a nurse for almost twenty years. In July, I decided to step away from direct patient care and transitioned into an administrative role. I made the right decision. I think the medical community is about to lose a lot of caregivers. There's no glory in being a sacrificial lamb, and that's how a lot of my medical friends and family are feeling. Covid has brought a lot of ugly truths to light; the ugliest being that many hospitals are still mainly focused on the bottom line, not human lives.
