Man B. I’d take security and comfort over passion. I can be passionate about all sorts of things, like squirrels and cheap white wine, but I don’t really want it in my relationship. I like being in control of my feelings too. I had a red hot teenage first love and it broke me. I have no desire to ever feel like that again

I know how you're feeling. I went to an academically advanced high school and really do have a brilliant mind. I think all time how I could have done something important for society. But I grew up with an abusive mother who told me all the time that she should just drop me off on the corner with the prostitutes, because that's all I was going to amount to. I left home at 18 and tried to find my way. I eventually found an exciting and good job, that if I'd stayed, I'd be making bank. But when it came down to the job or custody of my child, I left. The custody battle took my retirement fund and now I live paycheck to paycheck. The girls I went to school with have multiple degrees, big houses, some live overseas and everything they desire. Sometimes I think I should have become a prostitute. I'd probably have more money.

I'm cf and I hate it when people question why too. i honestly don't understand the desire or appeal of having kids but I don't go around asking people why they have them. it's none of my business and vice versa.

I can't relate to this concerning my divorce, but I can relate concerning my last long-term relationship of 7 years. Even though I no longer want to be together as a couple, I still have love for him and want the best for him. So when his birthday rolled around and then the holidays, I still had a desire to give him good gifts and to make him feel special and loved.

Have you ever thought about getting in the car and never going home? The desire to do just that is so strong right now that I'm going to blow off grocery shopping. I'm really afraid that I'll just keep going.

My dh is a good guy. We are buddies, get along great and laugh a lot. But... I'm bored as hell with the sexual part. It's a total chore and I can't wait for it to be over. I would never tell him that though, he would be devastated. And there is nothing that could bring the sexual attraction back, I'm just over it. No therapy, spicing things up, etc..would help. Don't want to leave but don't want to live the rest of my life like this. But I could live the rest of my life without having sex with him and be fine. I still have the desire, just not for him. I'm not cheating or anything like that, I just feel stuck.

It's so interesting how other people say what I'm thinking here but never in my real life! I've said to myself for years that I'd love to be married 50% of the time. I have no desire to cheat, just would love to be alone the other 50%. It's grating on me to have someone around all the time. My DH is a wonderful person and it would be so hurtful for him to hear that, I don't tell a soul. I just try to keep busy so we have some space from each other. He doesn't want space though, so it's hard.

I think what may be worse about the situation is that she almost wants him to die. I don't understand why she's with him anyway because she can't stand him when he's drunk (which is always) and he is a mooch. She's not married to him, so I think she's only staying with him because he's so sick and has no one else to take care of him. It's too bad he has no desire for rehab, I guess, but the doctors have told him that even if he does go to rehab, he probably only has about 10 years max to live. I guess I'd be depressed as hell about that if it were me and would keep drinking too.

I would take the dog and your DH to the vet with you and ask the vet point blank what his/her opinion is of the dog's prognosis. If the dog is truly in pain and suffering, it's fair to euthanize her. If she is still eating and enjoys interacting with people, etc., maybe let her stick around a bit longer. My dog was 14 when she had to be euthanized and I waited until she no longer wanted to eat or go for walks before having her put down. Those were her two big loves and when she lost the desire for those, I knew it was time.

My neighbor just found out her boyfriend only has about a year left to live because of his chronic alcoholism. I thought he was like in his 60s but he's only 47!! I feel so bad for her, but he has no desire to stop drinking apparently.
