Don't ever move close to your aging inlaws if you expect that they won't bother the crap out of you whenever they need you to do stuff for them. DH's parents haven't let up since COVID lockdown stuff started--they make us run all their errands, fix things for them (cuz they won't hire someone strange to come into the house), take care of a bunch of landscaping stuff (again, because of strangers) and are just being enormous pains in the ass. Now MIL is having knee replacement surgery while DH is out of town and I'm 100% not going to be her nurse. She can hire someone to come help her.

I don't mean to sound like an asshole, I truly don't, but your BP would constitute a hypertensive crisis. You would be admitted to save your kidneys, among other things. I'm not calling you a liar, I'm just wondering if the cuff gave an inaccurate reading. I've done stress testing for 18 years (cardiac nurse). Inaccurate readings happen all the time because of movement. I just can't imagine not sending a pt to the ER for that reading if I believed it was a true reading. Not to mention, the symptoms that go along with a reading that high (blindness, stroke, kidney failure). If it was a true reading, and they let you walk out of there, I'd be heading somewhere else for my medical care, op. Hope everything comes out okay.

Then why doesn't it say for all things metaphysical. I know Wicca is a religion. I had a black cat named Wicca. I learned about Voodoo firsthand when a friend of mine had a chicken burned on her front steps, part of a Haitian curse. In my family (ancestor) was Rebecca Nurse, killed for witchcraft at the Salem witch trials back. Don't assume what you know about me. You can burn all the sage you want but I still think it's useless. However my psychic experiences have been fairly extensive.

So I just asked him why he didn’t go up with me yesterday. He said he didn’t think he was allowed because of COVID. That’s a lie!! He was sitting three feet away from me when the pre-op nurse called the day before. I distinctly asked if he could come with and if he could stay. She said yes and I said that he’d go get breakfast after I went to the procedure room and be back. So he’s not gonna tell me the real truth. I just know I can’t even look at him without my heart breaking (and the tears flowing). Thanks for letting me unload here. I’m done though.

NoMoreSecrets, it was determined ahead of time that DH could go with me, wait in the waiting room, and be in the post-op room when I returned. We’ve done it that way three times before. We had discussed whether he should wait and he said he’d go get something to eat after I got settled in then come back to wait. I had to call the nurse to let me in (COVID precautions) and he said to have them call him when I was ready to leave. I looked at him, already tearing up, and said, ‘you’re not even coming in?’ He looked pissed off and said if that’s what I wanted. So I said ‘well, fuck me,’ got out and he drove off. I DID tell him how I feel, and held the tears back as long as I could. I’m an inconvenience, pure and simple. And him talking? Not gonna happen. His motto is sweep it under the rug and forget about it.

I had an EGD and a colonoscopy this morning due to possible internal blood loss. Doc has also mentioned liver disease as a possibility. DH took me to the door and dropped me off....told the nurse to call him when I was ready to leave. My BP went sky high during the procedures and they gave me something IV to get it below 240, I heard the anesthesiologist say the Propofol was causing me to desaturate, and heard the doc ask if a crash cart was ready. I remember lots of noise and weird flashes of light, and I came through it. Doc wants to do an ultrasound because he says I possibly have non-alcohol related cirrhosis. But the gist of this is that in 35 years together I have NEVER been hurt so deeply. He dropped me off at the fucking hospital!!!

I'm a nurse, and while I don't work with covid patients, many of my friends are nurses and techs who work in the covid unit. Things are still bad. Really, really bad. The numbers are still going up. Patients are presenting with weird symptoms. Children are being admitted more and more. Wash your hands, wear a mask in public spaces, and stay the hell away from people as much as possible. Most of all, don't listen to Donald Trump. His chances of having prolonged QT from his magic pills is high. He's a moron.

I have to wear a mask at my job (work @ a hospital) even though I don't see patients. We don't get the disposable ones like the MDs/Nurses do. They gave us 1 crappy cloth one but we have to buy/make our own so I bought some from a lady who sews them. Getting tired of washing them every week. For those who are big on wearig a mask for the store, appts, etc but criticize those who don't: Try wearing one for 8 hours and then preach about it.

I think you're right. I work for a large hospital that sends an email every time someone retires. We get them almost everyday now. Nurses, techs, environmental workers, kitchen staff, you name it. People are jumping ship.

What is Wrong with You

No surprise....it took three nurses and four tries to get the infusion IV started. I do pretty good during the first couple sticks. But then I can sense how tense everyone is getting and by the third try they’re digging into a vein just trying to get something. Each one hurts more than the last, but it’s not the pain that gets me. When they finally get a good line in the tears just roll down my face. No sound, no sobs....just tears. I don’t want people to apologize or be nice to me. I just want them to go away. They won’t do infusions every three days. They want my veins to ‘heal,’ so it’ll be once a week. Oh, and they had my doc call in a script for Xanax to take before each infusion, which I’ve never taken before.
