I live in a large US metropolitan city, our homeless problem I can only describe as unreal. Every degree of mental illness on display for all of the public to see, addiction so strong the person has turned into your nightmare. Everyday, I walk past, I step over, step aside, not stare, not engage. On a weekly basis I walk past people writhing in agony on the streets, suffering from lord knows what. The police see them, doctors, nurses, social workers, everybody sees them. While I of course support affordable housing for all...I really don’t think this is the silver bullet. I hate to sound like an alarmist, but we’re really going to hell in a hand basket here.

These riots aren't getting the coverage they once were, but they're still happening. I personally know people who are for the violence against police officers, but their spouses are in the military who do the same thing! At any time their spouses can be called for back up to back the police. But they'll unfriend anyone who is against hurting and killing innocent officers. Hypocrites.

Biden has repeatedly said that he thinks the police currently need MORE funds in order to be properly reformed. But try getting a Trump worshipper to listen.

Nobody wants to defund or get rid of the police. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Instead of paying more money to react to crime after it happens, how about spending some of that money to prevent crime in the first place? The biggest risk factor for crime is poverty. Let's help people get out of poverty. Things like education and job training. How about free community college? And instead of having police respond to minor fender benders, have non-law enforcement employees do it. If there's somebody in a mental heath crisis, have social workers respond. Or better yet, offer affordable and accessible healthcare to prevent the crisis in the first place. Why are people so opposed to that? More cops do not mean safer communities. Some of the highest crime areas have the most cops.

Yep. That and they truly think that if Biden is elected, he will completely de-fund the police. Like that's even going to be possible...I fail to see what's wrong with reforming a profession that has exhibited systemic racism for decades.

For anyone who sides with the poor, defenseless police (sarcasm), keep in mind that many of them are exactly like my cop bil in Virginia Beach. He was gloating about how his buddy arrested one of those "r******* n******" at a protest there the other night. There's a reason no one sings fuck the fire department.

One of my friends is doing keto. She's trying to convince me it's the best diet ever. I told her I eat something like 400 grams of carbs a day and I have never had a weight problem; keto is not the absolute only diet that works. I can't stomach eating that much fat. I do much better on a plant based diet. The one thing I agree with the keto people on is the processed carbs. Honestly those are not healthy for anyone regardless of your diet. But at least if I'm not on keto people don't berate me for eating them once in a while. I can't stand the diet police when it comes to crap like that.

My takeaway from the Democrat convention. Hillary Clinton speaking was unnecessary. No one cares what a failed presidential candidate has to say, especially a Clinton. Her husband had some nerve talking about Trump's behavior in the oval office. Like.... WHAT???? When his own behavior in office was disgusting, scandalous and let's see what happened on Jeffrey Epstein's plane, okay, Billy? Obama's speech was polished, for a change. He eliminated some of the uhs and duhs that his talking style is known for. But the speech had no substance. It was designed to criticize Trump but offered no substantial ideas for changing our country. Thugs are out of control, big cities are rioting, they're trying to get rid of the police who are the people who can help, and we listen to two Black-privileged Obamas mouthing platitudes? Dems displayed a pointless exercise in trying to tear down the present administration but offered nothing to put in its place. Now let's see what the Republicans say.

My CW tells me about every single physical ailment she has. She tells everyone. All the time. About every appointment she has, in detail. Her gastric issues have to do with diet, I'd bet my paycheck on it. Honestly, I believe 100% that most of the physical ailments that we, as a species, suffer from could be directly linked to diet. But that's just me. And yes, love, I know I'm not the food police. That's why I'm here bitching about it (like a good little confessor) and not getting all preachy with CW about how her westernized processed disgusting (IMO) diet will lead to a shorter life, full of discomfort and sickness. Or maybe your CW has a physical illness like IBS, Crohn's, UC, IBD, celiac disease, etc. that gives them a bad reaction to some foods and they can't always predict when they'll have to go. I get that it's not pleasant for you, but most people aren't like, going out of their way to make you miserable. And it's not like you can be the food police and govern what they should/shouldn't eat--that's not your business either.
