So somehow now an associate's level is all you can attain if you go to a vocational program? I personally know lots of A.A. degree holders who continued in college and graduated with B.S. or B.A., a couple who became doctors, many who got Master's degrees. One was the head of the theater department at a major state university, another founded a national restaurant chain after getting a B.S. in business, many who became lawyers. Three became NY published writers with many books to their credit. One became a major movie star. One captain in the navy, several university professors. A marine biologist. Many small business owners. An A.A. degree is designed to be a springboard to whatever you want it to be. It's not generational. Happens today as well. Try not to be prejudiced just because someone went to a community college. I graduated from a community college and now own 3 corporations with business in three states. It was the cheapest way to get an education, and the smartest.

I once went on a blind date and the guy showed up wearing sweat pants. To a restaurant. A DECENT restaurant. Black sweatpants, a flannel shirt, black sneakers, a down vest. He looked like the hugest dork, not to mention the bad mustache. I don't know what the person who set me up was thinking.

I love going through all the ads after Thanksgiving dinner and then Black Friday shopping. My girlfriend and I do it every year, we get up early do the shopping then have an awesome lunch at our favorite restaurant while our husbands play with the kids. Then back home to our families for a nap and decorate for Christmas. The past few years, because everybody shops online, Black Friday shopping here is less crowded than an average Saturday.

OP of GD and gluten free---I read alllll the labels and generally GF stuff does have fewer carbs. It's mostly bread for me. I haven't had pasta since I was diagnosed. I just meant that not everyone who is eating GF things is trying to be trendy. Thus far my GD has been kept in check with diet alone because I am being careful to read labels (and plan ahead if we're going to a restaurant. Didn't mean to make it sound like everything GF had less carbs, but in my case (for what I do eat) it happens that way.

I can't believe the amount of publicized cases of people changing children's diapers on restaurant tables. If I saw that the temptation to stuff the diaper in the parent's mouth would be overwhelming. Because that is essentially what they are doing to the other patrons, exposing everyone to their children's shit and germs. EWW.

OP of lentil soup confession. I'm in another restaurant, ordering lentil soup by pure coincidence. Waiter says it's "completely vegetarian. We just add a little bit of butter." This, friends, is why it pays to ask a bunch of questions. Made me think of you guys. :) I'm having pumpkin soup instead. Gluten free! No butter.

I worked in restaurants for years and I couldn't stand our bar "regulars". They were loud and obnoxious and showed up night after night to just drink their faces off. They weren't all young either, some ranged in ages from 35 to over 60. Some people never outgrow it. THey came in, tried to flirt with us, told the same stupid stories over and over again, breathed their bad breath in our faces, got arrogant because we dared to be out of something on the menu, started arguments or just acted like a-holes. If you spend more than one night a week in a bar you are either a teenager trying to be cool or you have a serious problem.

I went on that date and it was awesome! We spent nearly five hours together, went to a second location (from the restaurant to the bar), made plans for a second date, and ended the night with a very nice kiss! It definitely exceeded my expectations.

My sister has been a SAHM for years and is out of touch with reality and does not know how to talk to adults. She was in a restaurant and the service was slow, they were busy and this happens. What did she do? Yelled at the waitress...and grabbed her arm as if she was a child. The waitress told her not to touch her and walked away. Sis demands to speak to the manager. Manager comes over and tells her to calm down, keep her hands to herself or leave. Sis leaves and threatens to call corporate.

My favorite restaurants are Delmonico's in Las Vegas and Scala's in San Francisco.
