Pony books. Every pony book you've ever heard of. And many you haven't. I was a bit of an odd kid so I preferred old fashioned books like Enid Blyton. And really old pony stories from the 40s-70s. I did like Sweet Valley and the Babysitters for a little while, but then it was the Earth's Children series (still love Clan of the Cave Bear). And Witch Child...which is a great read even as an adult, I recommend it to everyone!

The Baby Sitters Club books, Judy Blume, that book Thirteen (that was theme of the week), then subsequently Fourteen and Fifteen in the series, practically raised me from 9 to 13. After 13 - 16, I fed off Stephen King mostly, John Grisham, Agatha Christie. After 16, because I thought I was soooo deep, I was really into Ayn Rand.

Yes, I have an issue, with YOU having an issue. With reading comprehension. Don't like the books? Fine. Randomly insulting someone and making nasty comments about their character based on what they write, is shitty. Do you need me to tattoo it on your arm or do you just not understand English?

Op of confession posted at 2014-04-28 12:21:33. "READ THE BOOKS" is commonly posted in all-caps and occasionally with an abundance of exclamation points when anyone expresses surprise about what happened in the TV show last night. The book fans call the show only fans morons, illiterates and go out of their way to place spoilers. There's nothing wrong with reading the books, but some fans need a slap in the face with a wet haddock. Frankly, I think the books blow but I enjoy the series...and I resent being told that I'm obviously an idiot who cannot read because of that.

And in books filled with sex, how exactly does one avoid describing sex in a society when what would today be considered minors, are married? OMG DAAAA PAAAAAAAEEEDDDDOOS. Hand wringing moral outrage and completely innaccurate comparisons FTW.

If any fans starts this condescending "read the books" nonsense, I immediately look down on them. I could read A Song of Ice and Fire but could they actually read something well written? The books I've read are enjoyable and all, but classics they are not.

One of BF's biggest complaints about me is that I'm too sensitive. I agree that I am not as thick skinned as I probably need to be, especially if I'm going to stay with him, but in my mind I legitimately get my feelings hurt by something I consider mean or rude. So this has been my pattern during our time together: He says something to me that I get offended about and we have an argument. Then I decide I need to stay away and not have any communication for awhile while I stew about what an asshole he is and try to decide if I want to continue in this relationship. I can be very stubborn and he also is very stubborn, so days and sometimes a week or two go by without any communication. It's usually him that finally calls and we end up working things out, but he hates that I don't have good conflict resolution skills. I'd like to work on that, but I also think he's manipulative and I don't like feeling like he's always right and I'm the one that has the problems to work on. Ugh, this sounds so childish, but I'm willing to work on my issues, just not sure how. Books, counseling, any ideas???

My kid spent some time yesterday and today practicing online for the common core based state tests. I didn't even ask him to do that. They are having the kids take these tests on new Chromebooks that they don't even know how to use, but my kid is taking the initiative and giving it his best shot. I'm proud of him.

I was really looking forward to Game of Thrones tomorrow night, because the previews looked like they were going to show something really cool that happens in the books, but I have been reading that the producers are going to stray a little from the books this season and now I am extremely apprehensive.

I read cookbooks, biographies, history books. I rarely read fiction anymore, I used to love it too.
