One of my dogs hates thunder. The last two nights we've had storms, so I've slept with her in our spare bedroom. The bed is not comfortable and she is constantly moving and waking me up. On the bed, off the bed, curls up, stretches out. If it storms tonight, I'm giving her Benadryl and hoping she sleeps through it. I need sleep!! (Typically, she's really good if I just go in and sleep with her. Not sure what her deal is this week.)

Michael Vick the dog fighting convicted NFL player has been signed to the Steelers and there's a petition for him to get off the team (and/or NFL, I'm not sure about this), do you feel since he was convicted of his crime he shouldn't be able to play or work and make a (honest) living for his family? As much as I hate what he did to those poor dogs, he did pay for his crimes, shouldn't he be left to live his life without this in face for rest of his life? I don't know if he was remoresful, I haven't followed too much..does that make a difference? What say you CCC?

We have been watching our friends' dog while they are in Hawaii for two weeks. We have two dogs of our own and for the most part, he's a pretty good dog. Except that he hasn't let me have one decent night of sleep since he got here. First we had him kenneled, because that's what our friends do, but then he woke us up every morning between 5-5:30. We don't go to bed until like 1 (I have sleep issues, so I don't really sleep until 3 or later most nights). Then we tried leaving him out in our room with our dogs. Nope, then he was jumping up on the bed every 10 minutes. Then we tried putting all the dogs in the laundry room. Nope again, woke me up at 5:30 barking his fool head off. Two more nights and then he's gone. I don't know if I will make it, I'm so tired.

I remember there was a period from when I was about 8 until I was 11, that I lived with my mom and grandparents under one roof. We had 22 cats and 5 dogs. My mom was always absent because she was off with her at-the-time boyfriend. My grandparents never cleaned much either, the house was like a duplex, and they spent their time in the upstairs house. My older brother was a teenager and was always with friends. My sister just lived in the filth. Strangely, we never got bugs. But our house looked gross, you can imagine the smell of 22 cats and the males becoming territorial with their urine. I remember my grandma coming downstairs and telling me to clean the house because my mom was gone and I was the only one who could clean it. I guess it was because I was the only sibling young enough to control. Since then, I cleaned house, made my siblings dinner, did laundry, etc. On the plus side, I have more life skills than any of my siblings. On the downside, my siblings have zero life skills.

When I make burgers, I just buy Kaiser rolls from the bakery. They're fresh, taste better and I can just buy 2 at a time without wasting anything. Once, I bought a pack of Kings Hawaiian rolls to put hotdogs (that I got from the butcher case, so I didn't have a ton of extra dogs since there is just the 2 of us and we probably want hotdogs maybe once a year) in, it was delicious and I love the rolls so nothing was wasted. Now, King's makes hotdog buns that are supposedly the same as their rolls but they don't taste the same to me.

The real issue is why are hot dogs sold in packages of 10 but buns are sold in packages of 8? Or god forbid you buy brats/sausages, that are usually sold in 6. #firstworldproblems

Everyone here has been so...on edge and snarky lately it seems like. I have a fun topic idea. Let's post stupid/silly things we thought/wondered when we were kids. I'll start. 1.) I always wondered why my parents used turn signals sometimes and not other times. I thought certain streets required them and some didn't. I panicked because I didn't think I was smart enough to learn all of that when I was old enough to drive. 2.) When I watched the Price is Right and Bob Barker said "Spay and Neuter your pets", I thought only cats got spayed and only dogs got neutered. I have no idea where I got that from!

I took ds to the art museum on Tuesday to see the Davinci Codex and while there we stopped and threw pennies into the fountain. He asked what I was going to wish for and I couldn't think of anything to wish for. Everything in my life is just fine and happy and I'm content and comfortable. My job is interesting and fun, ds is healthy and happy, dh is good, the dogs are good, I had some good news about school related stuff, everything is great. I told ds I didn't know what to wish for and he said "how about gold?". Ok, I wished for some gold.

Lions aren't actually endangered. They can also be eaten, lion bush meat is a thing and lion burgers have been sold in the US several times although usually shut down quickly due to protests. And yeah, cows are raised for meat, does that mean they feel less pain? They suffer for a lot longer than Cecil the lion did. Just my 2c, and I'm not a vegetarian, but I do see flaws in the logic of everyone flipping out over the lion or certain cultures eating dogs, and yet happily chowing down on steak.

There are these people in our neighborhood who always put these Bible verses on signs in their front yard...."Every one of us will have to give an account of himself to God"...stuff like that. They also have all sort of anti-abortion paraphernalia all over the place. To me, that just seems like you are just about asking for people to let their dogs poop on your lawn. Or egg your house. It just sort of rubs me the wrong way when I see it and I'm a Christian myself.
