I do not have to worry about my DH "giving" me $100. Why not? Because I am single, and in a good position financially from investments. I work a full time job at a large very well known company just for the benefits. I cannot imagine being dependent on a man. My father was verbally abusive and my mom could not leave because she quit working as soon as she was pregnant with me and had no up to date skills. When she died my dad was consumed by guilt so now he has mellowed out. And yes he was verbally abusive to me very badly the first few months after she died, even more so than he was with mom. He would yell and scream and swear and point at me with his cane. Now, he in his 80's, in so so health occasionally demanding and unreasonable but has mellowed out and we actually get along. I know he won't be around forever, :( but once he is no longer around, I will be completely done dealing with men.

I had a very high paying job for about 5 years and hated it the entire time. I tried to be grateful for the fact that (1) I had a job in such a bad economy and (2) that it paid so well. But fact is, it's so draining to spend 45-50 hours per week doing something you loathe. After 5 years I was finally able to find a new job through networking. I took a pretty big pay cut but it was worth it. I don't hate my job anymore. To the OP who is hating her job, I feel ya! Just keep thinking positive, keep your networks strong and avenues open. I hope you find something you like better down the road.

There is a big part of me that is losing weight in order to attract the ideal mate. The type of man I feel that I am attracted to, physically, probably isn't going to be as attracted to me by first glance. People tend to act as if wanting to lose weight to attract partners is a bad thing. I don't know. If I don't like what I see in the mirror, how can I like someone who has the same body type as me? How will someone else care about me?

I posted about a month ago that my mom may have ovarian cancer. She goes for surgery to remove a "grapefruit size" tumour in 2 weeks. I'm hoping for the best, but it could be really bad. I am tired of people telling me I have to believe she will be fine. No,I don't. Accepting all possibilities good and bad, will not influence the outcome. People honestly think if you are willing and able to accept the worst as well as the best that somehow you are not "thinking positive" and this will make the worst happen. Fucking idiots.

I seriously feel bad for people that go to tanning beds way too often. They look so gross and so awful. I graduated high school in 2004 and I see classmates on Facebook that are still overdoing it. I know they think it looks good but why don't their family/friend/significant other try to boost their self esteem and say "You're attractive with pale skin, you don't need to risk skin cancer"? Some of them look down right scary and a couple of them look like they're in their 40's.

my poor stepson (5) is having some pretty terrible behavior problems. when hes with his mother, there are no rules, not discipline, no guidance. From what we can tell based on what he tells us, and his therapists, there is basically only yelling, violence and neglect. When he's at preschool during her custody, he is a bully to kids, violent with them, loud, disobedient and when the teacher tries to be reasonable with him and talk to him about his behavior he says "you can't tell me what to do" or "i don't care i'm going back to my Mothers" but when he's with us, he's kind, sensitive to other kids, plays well and minds. ... Up until recently. His mother is preparing to move out of state, and his behavior is becoming erratic. I've been in his life since he was 5 months old, and this isn't a not your kid not your problem type of deal. I just feel so bad for him. I know he knows the difference in his behavior. and i know that he's acting out because of his environment. breaks my heart. (and honestly, gets on my nerves) thanks for keeping your negative comments to yourselves on this one. :)

My best feature is my sense of humour. Too bad it comes in such a dumpy package.

Ah, so when you act like a bunghole you're just "saying it like it is" or "being honest" but if anyone else does or uses a word you don't like they are bad people. Uh huh

It sounds bad, but when I was 20 I briefly dated a 16 year old. But he pursued me, was sexually experienced, and I was still a virgin. We didn't do anything sexual. Not even 2nd base.

Ds doesn't talk much, he's only 1 and a half, so I'm not worried.. And for the most part he can communicate to me pretty efficiently in other ways. Lately he has been teething pretty bad. The way he lets me know his gums are bothering him is by trying to bite me. He'll chomp hard if I let him, but it's not out of anger or anything, it's just how he tells me what's wrong. When he can't bite me he tries to pinch. Idk why he started the pinching but again, it's ONLY when his teeth are bothering him. The other day at the playground with a mom friend of mine ds started trying to bite and pinch me. She tells me 5 or 6 times that I NEED to bite him back. She bit her dd back and hasn't been bit since. Her dd was biting out of anger. I think that while biting back may work for some kids it's not something I want to do, especially since I know he is only doing it to get a message across to me (and try to make the pain stop.) I'd really like for him to stop and I'm working on teaching him a word or other signal while telling him biting and pinching is wrong (fairly certain he understands, he cries every time he gets scolded for it) but seriously can't justify hurting him like that. I want to punish him for his actions, not for not knowing how to talk. I seriously almost told her to get lost... I told her 5 times that I will not do it before i decided it was time to go in and get away from her by going back inside. If I don't take your advice the first time, and fell you I won't be taking this bit of advice, there is absolutely no need to repeat yourself 5 more times in 10minutes.
