Geez, people are such assholes. I was walking my dog down Main Street where there are lots of outdoor tables where people sit to eat/drink. 90% of people love to scratch her ears as she walks by, so she's really calm when we walk down there. Today, this lady was sitting at a table and she screamed "Get that dog away from me!" as I walked by. I get that not everyone likes dogs, but she wasn't even near the lady and wasn't jumping on her or licking her or anything. You can just sit there and ignore her; you don't have to scream at me. It's not like I'm sitting there forcing you to pet my dog or anything.

Ah man. I'm getting puppy fever again. I really shouldn't be looking at all the cute pups up for adoption on petfinder, but I am anyway. I really wish we could move now so we'd have room for two dogs. Must. Resist. Temptation....

Great news. The German Shepard that lives two houses over and kept running out of her electric fence has moved! One of the residents moved out and took her. Now I can walk my dogs in our neighborhood again!

Has anyone seen an up-rise of people marrying horses or dogs since gay marriage is slowly (but surely) becoming legal? Because that's what the opposing side has said, "next thing you know it'll be okay to marry a dog or a whale". I haven't. Besides that, if you can marry a whale and I can't even get a date, there is something seriously wrong with me!

I get tired of hearing about how all animal care workers are compassionate. I saw a video on Youtube where 2 women were euthanizing dogs then laughing as they tossed the bodies into a pile.

No, there's no reason for my dog to wear a muzzle. She is very friendly with people, but she doesn't love other dogs. I keep her on a short leash and if I see another dog, I cross the street. She ignores them if she's far enough away, so I do take care to do that. My DH is just plain paranoid, that's all. She's a large dog and could probably bite someone if she wanted to, but unless she's on her own territory, she is very friendly. I've had her for almost 4 years and she hasn't bitten anyone when I'm out walking her yet, so I don't get why he's being such a putz.

DH and I took the dog for a walk yesterday and a couple of kids--maybe 12 or 13 years old--stopped and wanted to say hi to the dog. She was wagging her tail and licking their hands. I could tell the kids had been around dogs a lot because they were really calm with her. After we walked some more, DH got mad and said I should muzzle her when we walk because "she might have bitten them". I thought I was done having this argument with him. She is not vicious and if I think someone is making her uncomfortable, I won't walk her near the person. And if some dumbass pets her without asking me first and she bites them, whose fault is that??

There is a meme of a dog that is outside the house looking inside. It is captioned "let me in, I need to go back out". Yep, that's my dogs.

Does anyone have experience with ticks or diseases carried by ticks? I've googled so many differing opinions. Ticks on dogs and people both. DH, myself and our dog all had ticks on us last week. I think we removed them correctly, but I'm still a little worried. I can't take any more time off of work, so I would have to take our dog to the emergency vet = pricey. I need to know if I should...ugh.

Whenever I watch a movie where pets or animals are in some kind of danger, it always bothers me when the people get rescued but you never see what happens to the dogs, cats, horses, etc.
