My mother is possibly getting the gastric bypass surgery. She tells everyone including her doctor that she has tried everything to get the weight off and nothing works. She has done Advocare, many diets, exercise, every pill on the market but what she doesn't tell people is, she only attempts these things for a week maybe 2 weeks at the most. She expects to drop 50 pounds after a week of eating healthy. Even her eating healthy isn't eating healthy. I have tried to explain what she needs to eat and how much but she doesn't listen. She doesn't eat fruits or vegetables. She eats nothing but fast food or packaged food, nothing fresh and nutritious. Her healthy is not eating fries with her burger from McDonalds or getting Chili's chicken nuggets. I try to explain to her that just because it is chicken does not mean it is healthy, you have to look at how the food is prepared and cooked. She tried to tell me that the nutritional value on packaged food, she thought that you only consume 150 calories of Cheez-its if you entire box. I had to explain to her how the nutritional value works and it is 150 calories for ever 27 cheezits because it nothing for her to sit there and eat half a box in one sitting. Anytime you visit she has packages of cookies beside her chair and half eaten containers of frosting. Even if she gets the surgery she will eventually put the weight back on with those eating habits. I have seen it happen to many people. Some people do keep the weight off but if you don't eat healthy and have a healthy lifestyle the results won't last forever.

Okay, DH, don't tell me you want to get off at work at 1 to "spend time with me" because this is my first day off in forever. In order to "spend time with me" you have to actually do so, not immediately go play cards with your friends. At least have the balls to say you're being a lazy fuck while I am working every day to pull in more money for us.

I haven't colored my hair in forever. Sometimes it's just a huge pain in butt and I'm stretched for time. My DH doesn't like my gray hairs and bugs me about it. Makes me want to wait even longer.

Re: the fat kids. I was overweight in middle school and the first 2 years of high school. However I lost 60 pounds in HS. If they're overweight now it does not mean they're going to be forever.

I am about 20 lbs overweight, starting tracking calories and exercise on July 1. I am only down barely 2 lbs. I guess with only 20 to lose, about .5 lbs per week is average, but ugh it is frustrating. Gonna take forever at this rate! Oh, well, I guess that is the healthy way of doing it and keeping it off.

A friend of mine is asking for books for babies instead of cards at her shower. Obviously I don't want to get one that everyone else will go for like any Dr. Seuss or that "Love you Forever" book. Does anyone have suggestions on unique (and reasonably priced) childrens/baby books?

My first time having sex, my literal first thought was, "Is that it?" I waited till I was almost 22, and was with the guy for about 8 months. We loved each other a lot and thought we were going to be together forever. People were in our business, asking us if we were "doing it" yet, blah blah. Sex seemed to be everywhere; everyone was doing it. We were both virgins, and I put a lot of pressure on the situation for it to be "perfect". When we finally did it, it was just... boring. It was so anti-climatic... literally, and figuratively!

I don't care how long you've been together or how many kids you have, if you aren't married, I'm not going to take your relationship as seriously as if you were. Yes, there are plenty of married people who shouldn't be together. But at least they were committed enough to put it in writing. Seriously, if someone said, "I'll sell this house to you, you can live in it forever, I just won't actually write a contract saying that," would that be OK with you? Marriage is more than just a piece of paper. It is a legally binding contract. My sister lived with a guy for 9 years when he died suddenly. After not getting squat and having no legal right for anything, she realized that maybe that marriage thing WAS important. And common law is not as easy as just living together. In most states you have to prove that you were living together as husband and wife by changing names, filing joint tax returns, etc.

Why has it got to be so difficult to go to college?? I graduated with an associates, but wanted to go back and get another couple of degrees, since it would only take a few more classes. Ive been informed that my financial aid is suspended, and if I respond incorrectly in my appeal they'll block all further financial aid forever. Do you know why? Because ive had "maximum credits allowed". UGH

OP of the PT complaint. Thank you for the input, and you're right - I didn't mean to sound like a baby about the exercises. I do them, and they are valuable, and I absolutely don't want to be reinjured. But in addition to marathon training (1-3 hrs/day) and the upper body and core exercises I do on alternate days, it doesn't leave me much room to also do true lower body strength routines, and I'm getting frustrated. Plus, my body will eventually stop responding to the same exercises day in and day out. I'd like to shake up the routine, make it harder, and yes - hopefully do some kind of maintenance program. I'm done with PT, bu they didn't give me a plan for moving forward, and I'm gonna go crazy if I have to do these same little 2 lb weight exercises forever. KWIM?
