I've been having issues with Amazon drivers the last couple of weeks, tearing up my driveway, leaving boxes in the middle of the drive, speeding in and out of the yard. Today one called me bc she had a "problem" with my dogs barking at her (they couldn't get to her), and i got an attitude. I shouldn't have. Im going to start using a locker pickup location, but I wish I could call her back and apologize. I feel like shit for being rude.

I had a guy haggle real hard on my prices. I'm one of the cheapest in the area with the best reviews. He wants me to watch 2 dogs for a week over the 4th. Holiday=extra ($30 for 1st dog, $20 for 2nd per night). So I took off the extra (making it $25/$20). Then he wanted me to go down more, so I said fine, since they're here for a whole week I'll do $20/$20. Then he says, ok to make it cheaper,I'm going to pick them up the night before instead. I said ok, but the $20/20 is only for 7 days, if you drop it to 6 then it goes back to $25/20 ($10 cheaper than 20/20). Then he wanted to video chat, so I told him there was to be no more haggling. "If you go down on the price I'll tip you big!" LOL, I wasn't born yesterday. I wasn't the first he tried to haggle, he ran off 2 other sitters. I'm already losing $80 (350 to 270). If he tries even once more, I'm canceling him. He took up 4hrs of my time today, haggling. Oh, and he tried to get me to include their food! uh, no.

A possible new client asked me to watch her dogs. On my site, I say I can take any breed as long as the dog itself is not hostile, and since I have a dog and watch other dogs, any dog I watch must get along with other dogs. I always ask in case people don't read it. She got snarky and said she'll let me watch Dog1, but she guesses she'll have to have someone else to watch Dog2 since it will be "too much of a challenge" for me to watch him. Dog2 doesn't get along with dogs, just Dog1. It's not about him being a challenge, it's about the safety of the people and dogs in my home. If he attacks another dog I'm watching, that's money out of my pocket to pay the vet bills, an innocent dog in pain, a lost client, and a bad review/tainted reputation.

Dh and I were sitting outside and it was very still and quiet. We then heard our neighbor roughly half a block away calling for her dog. She was saying “Come here N-word! N-word get over here!”So, we’ve never met these neighbors, nor have we really seen them. They live on a hill and there’s woodsy area in between us. I’ve seen their dogs more often because they run around the neighborhood and they both have ticks. So many ticks. They come in my backyard and eat the squirrel food. I looked at dh and said “she’s not really calling her black lab the N-word is she? I’m not hearing right, she’s saying something similar? Oh please let her be saying something else!” She was not. She really was calling her black lab the N-word. Omg. Wtf is wrong with people???

How are a person’s feelings about dogs racist? Get off your high horse. That could be your dinner. FFS, it’s irrelevant who is eating dogs or which cultures deem it appropriate. People are naturally appalled at the idea of eating a beloved family member. If some redneck in GA was discovered killing dogs and eating them, it would become a national horror story. Perhaps he’d even be slammed for cultural appropriation. Lol. So ridiculous, Kaylee. Stand up to injustice? Absolutely, but not every little thing is a soap box.

Your emotional response over eating dogs vs. eating cows does not erase the racist comments against Asian people that were posted here. American slaughter houses are equally vile when compared to meat markets in other countries. Period. Even the milk industry in America is disgusting. But we're 'Mericans so we're better, right? We dip live chickens in boiling liquid, but those poor, poor dogs are tortured by those mean Asians. Seen why it's a fucked up, racist argument, Karen?

Also classic abuse is having reasons why you can't leave now. Sorry OP, I know it isn't easy, but it isn't that much harder to find a place to live that takes dogs, even during increased work loads and sheltering in place. It doesn't have to be the best place ever, it just has to be a place for right now. And movers work weekends and nights just fine, and will email you around your schedule. It isn't easy, but there will ALWAYS be reasons why it isn't easy. Do it now, before you come up with another excuse, or before he pulls the trigger when waving a gun at you.

I know we're not allowed to talk about what other cultures eat because if we do we are filthy racists who need to be burned on pyres, but I have to say I'm pretty glad to hear parts of China are talking about banning dog meat. It may be cultural conditioning but dogs are pretty sweet animals, it makes me sad to think of animals being eaten that regularly die for us or put themselves at grave risk as police dogs, rescue dogs, bomb and drug sniffing dogs, that help people who have disabilities and require assistance, and that are the only companion for many lonely people (sad as that is.) I know they all feel the same pain (I don't eat them either) but I think it's natural to have a connection to an animal that evolved so closely with us, hunted with us and has lived in our just outside our homes for so long.

My exH just informed me he won't be able to make his child support payment. They own a small business and aren't getting many customers because of the Coronavirus. They have about 20 cats, 3 dogs, chickens and turkeys and other animals. I did tell him that making sure his child is fed is more important than feeding all those animals. His wifes family is rich, she can't ask them for help? She constantly gets donations for animal shelters, she can't ask for food donations for her own animals for a bit? His answer is for our child to go without when we're financially strapped because of this too. Then later the same day he told me he can't afford his payment, his wife adopted a new puppy. They're both known to be irresponsible and impulsive, then play victim when they can't fulfill their responsibilities. He plans on paying it back when this is over, but an IOU can't buy groceries.
