Doctors are wrong, often. They don't know everything. That's why they call it practicing medicine. Doctors used to recommend smoking cigarettes, people trusted them then. Doctors also said sugar, meth, and tapeworms help you lose weight. They used to prescribe heroin for pain management. It takes time for them to learn the long-term effects. The covid vaccine hasn't even been out for a year, so there's no way to know the long-term effects it can have. People say "oh you don't believe in science" The whole thing about science is that it is always changing. It's not wrong for people to wait on more long-term data on something they are injecting into their bodies that could kill them or cause other health issues. The same could be said about Covid, but that is the person's choice and it's none of anyone's business, especially since the vaccine only helps the person who gets it.

I hate that I have to accept gaining weight right now. I need to because of my health, but damn. I feel like if I gain weight, I won't be thin anymore. Stupid black and white thinking....in my brain, there is only skinny and obese. Why can't I drill it into my brain that there is a happy medium??

because my new meds are appetite suppressors, i have to be weighed every sunday afternoon to make sure i am not losing too much weight. i am already on the underweight side medically because of some disordered eating in the past and my family knows this. yesterday my dad told me to go binge because i was getting weighed in a couple days to make sure i wasn't losing weight. this is the same man who used to yell at my sibling and i for snacking during the day.

I have developed an extreme aversion to eating. Have any of you used a full liquid meal replacement that's healthy and not weight gain or loss? I'm not healthy right now with not eating, but I'm still somehow pretty overweight. I need something to balance out, I just hate solid foods.

Thank you to whoever it was recommended My Fitness Pal. I've found that it's not the amount of food I eat, which seems to be not enough since it's fussing at me about low calorie intake. It's what I eat that is the problem. I bought some nutrition shakes since I hate eating meat, and I've increased my veggies. I hate eating in general and a lot of foods weird me out, so I'm looking for some-not weight loss shakes- but like some type of full meal replacement that is still healthy. Research pointed at things like Soylent or Kachava which both claim to be easier, healthier ways to eat on the go.

I am so sick to death of hearing about how great the keto diet is. SIL is on it right now and is trying to convince me to go on it too. First off, I'm not even close to overweight. Second off, I am very active and I NEED carbs to function. I don't eat a lot of processed/refined carbs; I get most of mine from veggies, fruits and cooked whole grains like quinoa, bulgur, etc. Why can't people understand that not everything is going to work for everyone?? You have to find out what works for you personally and that might be a big combo of a bunch of different diets.

There is a difference between 'mostly likely' end up on insulin, and 'absolutely will'. And every year your diabetes is diet controlled is helping prolong your life. Keep eating well, and do whatever you can to lose weight. It'll be worth it, even if it means you 'only' gain time without insulin.

I learned from my Dr that no matter what I do for my type 2 diabetes, I'll end up on insulin. I'm almost 40, diagnosed last year. I've been doing great with meds and eating better. I decided on weight loss surgery to help even more so that I can manage it without medication in the near future. I'm not on insulin. She said most likely in my 60s I'll need insulin, she said everyone does, because our organs are working extra hard to keep our bodies working like a normal persons, that by the time we're in our 60s our organs are tired they won't be able to function properly. Pancreas, heart, lungs.

Warning, bragging ahead: I was at a party yesterday, and overhead a conversation. One friend (E) was talking to another friend, who inquired about E's 50 pound weight loss over the pandemic. E tells her she was inspired by me! She said <my name> lost 50 pounds 10 years ago, and has kept it off the entire time, and used it as a launching pad of turning into a physical badass. And E figures if I can do, so can she. I haven't really thought about my journey as being inspirational, especially since in started in terror. My doctor said I was likely to be diabetic if I didn't loss the weight ASAP, and my fear of needles made me drop (and mostly keep) the weight off. And after that, everything was easier (like running, yoga, dancing, hiking) so I just kept doing more. I feel really proud of myself now. Yay me for accomplishing a healthy body! Now I'm going to go celebrate with a really nice salad and a trail run.

Weight is about diet for the most part. If you want to weigh less then eat less/better. If you want to FEEL better then try some beginner yin yoga. It's not even exercise really, but it makes your body feel better in general. It's also great for mental health. There are millions of free videos on YouTube.
