Mowed the lawn today, but haven't gotten around to the edges and weeds. I can't wait for this stupid thirsty grass to fuck off and die and make way for more appropriate desert landscaping. I'm not watering the grass, only the few trees we've planted as saplings. I would just chemically bombard the lawn to quicken the death, but I don't want to fuck up the ground water with chemicals or poison the little dogs whose owners think it's totally acceptable to let them walk all over my grass. Fortunately, the heat is increasing and it'll soon be perfect to throw down plastic and bake the grass to death. Also can't wait for these saplings to take root and be less high maintenance. #adulthood

My sister paid like $1000 for a Yorkie puppy once. She never trained it and it eventually ran out the door one day and got hit by a car. Not surprising that she'd spend that kind of money to buy* a dog when she spent $500 on the world's ugliest hair cut/dye job. (*While I'd never drop a grand to purchase a dog, I've dropped much more than that for surgery and vet bills for the animals I've owned.. I think spending money on the care of an animal is important, I just think it's ridiculous to go to some random dude's backyard and pay out the ass for a dog with no papers, no vaccinations/spay/neuter when there are millions of dogs being euthanized at shelters each year, that you can typically get for under $500, much lower than that if you're not picky about getting a puppy.)

I'm in a position to adopt a great rescued dog, adult, sweet, housetrained, good with kids. If I don't know the reason for why people have dogs, does that mean I shouldn't get one?

Dear Bossman: I know it's none of my business, but I'm really offended by the fact that you're paying through the nose for a 'specialty' dog that has specific breeding because you expect it to be better behaved. You're 0 for 2 on shelter dogs, you say. Uh, maybe it's you, man. But we'll never know because you're going to send this one off to training camp. *shudder* I dunno, man, my dogs are like my kids. And the way you're going about this really skeeves me out. I hate when stuff like this happens that reminds me that you really are an elitist. Boo.

There is a petition going around town about whether or not people should be allowed to keep chickens in their backyard...in the city. Apparently, roosters would not be allowed. I understand wanting eggs, but personally, I'm against it. I live in a neighborhood. People can barely take care of their cats and dogs, I can't imagine having to deal with rogue chickens.

I buy mostly veggies, fruits, organic foods, and fresh meats for myself. I also do shopping for my elderly father. He likes candy....lots of candy. Along with pop tarts and hot dogs and other unhealthy foods. I get stares when I shop and they see a cart half full of organic, and the other half garbage. I don't care, I don't know these people. But that doesn't mean I don't notice.

I've never been a dog person. We had 3 other dogs over the years and they all got on my nerves. Last summer we adopted a dog from a rescue agency and he's my best buddy. All those people who talk about how much they love their pets? I get it now.....

I know you like to act like you're the dogs bollocks, but really we all know it's an act. Sorry kitten, your insecurity is showing. (Not aimed at anyone on here)

I am going to kill our cat. First she tries to use the TV as a scratching post. Then she goes to jump on the baby, and I snapped at her to get her to back off, which of course woke the baby and now she's trying to steal the dogs spot on the couch, the sick dog. Fuck off cat, you're being a cunt today.
