It bothers me when people I know get dogs that don't fit their lifestyles. Our friends want to get a poodle/retriever mix and they are barely ever home and live in the city. I know that poor dog won't get nearly enough exercise and they'll have problems. It also bugs me when people assume all big dogs need to live where they can run a lot. My dog is very big but she's a couch potato who isn't hyperactive at all. She gets walked every day and does very well in the city. Sometimes it's the smaller dogs that need the space to run in the country.

I never said not spaying or neutering stops your animal from getting cancer. I said neutering doubles the risks of certain types of cancer. Obviously cancer is always a risk. Some people really need to learn to read. Do you realise how uppity you sound? "The only reason, blah blah blah..." Actually no, I do have a reason for not neutering my dog, who I don't intend to breed. I live rurally, have tonnes of room in my garden but my house is small. He doesn't get a chance to run away and there are never other dogs around on our walks. The only dogs for miles are the farmers collies (who are male). I'm not running around in a big city letting my dog be in contact with other dogs, and I resent the accusation that I'm "irresponsible" because I've chosen not to neuter my pet. You are a seriously ignorant **angel**.

My parents had a dog that they never got spayed. She got uterine cancer when she was 8 years old and we had to put her down. Dogs can get those types of cancers just like humans can, so if you do choose not to spay your pet, that sort of thing can happen. The only reason to not spay or neuter your dog is if you are planning on showing in conformation trials or breeding responsibly. There are too many idiots out there with unneutered animals that think they would have cute puppies and then mate them with whatever Joe Blow dog that comes along and try to sell the resulting mutts on Craigslist for $500.

So sick of Americans telling everybody what they do with their animals is wrong. I've had Americans tell me it's cruel to keep my ferrets outside, when in fact a study has shown that the lack of a natural photoperiod is one of the biggest factors in the massively increased risk of adrenal disease in addition to cruelly removing the scent glands and neutering at too young an age (two other things Americans love to do to their pet ferrets). So I ask, why am I listening to people telling me I'm irresponsible when you lot think it's acceptable to mutilate the tail, ears and sometime even voice box of your dogs, and mutilate your cats feet? All the lolz. Neutering your dog doubles the risk of certain types of cancer (including prostate), hypothyroidism and triples the risk of obesity. Obviously not neutering is not practical if you cannot control your dog to the extent that you don't even know it's in the house or not, and if your dog has access to lots of other dogs. But how about you put your ignorant ethnocentrism on hold for a second and realise not everyone lives the same type of life you live.

Sorry if you're so irresponsible your dog can "sneak out". My dog doesn't ever get the opportunity. He's in the house, or we're in the rural hills where there are no other dogs. He doesn't get left in the garden (which has 6ft high walls) unless I'm with him. And we're rural. There are no neighbour dogs. Up yours.

IDGAF if people judge me for not neutering my male dog. In essence I totally support spay and neuter, but I also feel it's OK for individuals to NOT spay or neuter if they know what they are doing. It kinda bugs me when people act as though they are better than others who have been keeping dogs for decades. I grew up with gundogs in my family (ironically I'm now a vegetarian). We keep our dogs inside and as pets, but we have distinct ideas about how to care for them...such as feeding them actual meat and bone and not that dried extruded biscuit crap which is terrible for them Some dogs go through a really negative behavioural change with neutering, and I have seen it before, and I'm not risking it again. If you know enough about dog handling and rearing neutering IS optional even if you have no intention of breeding, and neutering your dog doesn't automatically make you a better pet owner. I judge people who keep labs, huskies and other big breeds in small apartments and don't spend hours a day walking them, who buy little dogs to treat as toys and carry in designer handbags, and feed their dogs off-the-shelf dried food which is terrible for them. Go ahead, rip me apart, holier than thou's.

My dealbreakers are severe financial problems, smoking, not liking dogs, drinking excessively, being overly obsessed with any hobby, (my ex was obsessed with karaoke and it contributed to out calling off our wedding), not having a car (another ex didint have a car and I got tired of carting him around and arguing if I didint want to drive him somewhere)I prefer a man not have children because every man I dated who had kids the kids mother caused the relationship to end.

When I was dating, I only had a few dealbreakers. One was any man who was still living with his parents, smokers, or anyone who didn't like dogs. No way could I stand living with someone who didn't like dogs.

I don't say in my online dating site profile that I don't want to date fat bald narcissistic dads with kids under 18. I don't say a motorcycle is a dealbreaker, nor do I mention that someone who has to drink at home every day and calls it "socially" is out. I can't stand men who talk down to me, call me names, yell at anyone, play mind games and can't pay the check. I don't like hunters, guys with multiple large dogs, or men who can't go 10 minutes without touching their balls. But I can find most of this out in a few conversations. The ball touching, sometimes that takes a date. Just ick.

Say what you want about unhealthy vegans....it's only an unhealthy diet if you eat a bunch of crap. Sure, potato chips are vegan and so is white rice and tofu dogs and vegan bacon. That doesn't mean that's healthy for you. You have to use common sense and get some education. Over the years my diet as shifted from a Meditteranean style of eating to more bean and plant based with lots of fresh greens, brown rice, a variety of fruits, almonds and other nuts. My labs are outstanding. I'm going to be 50 soon and I take NO meds, have NO health problems and only the barest bit of gray in my hair. 15 years ago I was overweight, aching all the time and looked tired a lot. Now people say I'm glowing. Do it right and vegan can bring you outstanding health benefits. Do it stupid and you get what you get.
