I work with a man who is transitioning to a woman, and he lost custody of his son. She told him not to dress like a woman in front of the 8 year old boy but he did anyway. The mother convinced a judge that it was emotionally harmful to the boy.

Thing is, transgender children DO worry/think about their "sex and genitals", so to speak. Not the sexual orientation of them, especially a 2 or 3 years old , but I think the genitals since they feel as though they shouldn't have this penis, or have this vagina. Kids know from early on who they are. They are more in tuned to themselves than most adults. As a parent, I wouldn't just wait it out when my child is consistently telling me he doesn't feel happy inside of himself. I will support my child to the fullest to be sure they are happy. And yes, you don't deserve to be a parent if you aren't willing to accept that your child is a transgender, or gay, or no gender for that matter. That they are too young to understand this, as if they don't know what they are talking about. (or feeling inside). You oppress your child this way. Which leads to depression and suicide etc. They will still be trans at 13 years old when they reach puberty, you know, when YOU think that is a good time for them to start the transition. But if they've been held down all those previous years, your going to have an emotionally unstable child on your hands. Pay attention to your kids. They aren't too young to feel and know. Have we not learned anything from Bruce Jenner?? (joke! sort of)

I have worked in a lot of different jobs in the automotive industry, now I work for a Subaru dealership and most Subaru drivers are the biggest crybabies I have ever dealt with. Most of them are emotionally like spoiled children. It is actually entertaining lol. Surprisingly, teachers and healthcare workers are the worst.

I feel bad for Bruce Jenner. If he would have never married Kris he wouldn't be in the public eye right now. I know as a former Olympian he probably would have made a few headlines with his transition but it most likely would have lasted a week before the media moved on to a new story. Being part of the Kardashian family puts a target on your back even if you don't want it. I can only imagine how transitioning could be an emotional roller coaster but in the eye of the media I am sure it is 10 times worse. I also see why Rob is struggling with his depression. He can't go through something without his mom and sisters bringing it up on their show and talking about him. If they really cared they wouldn't be using his depression for a story line in their show. Some one that is battling depression doesn't want to be in the spotlight. It only makes it worse and sets them back even further from getting help. Using your loved ones struggles whether it be depression or transition for publicity is disgusting.

I have a step situation that is hard to deal with. It's gotten to the point that we have seperated finances and I will be moving out as of 5/1 with my dd and our dd together until my ss is of age and out of the house. Ss was taken by CPS from his mom 5 years ago due to some serious abuse. Dh was called to take a paternity test after 2 other men, so once finding out he had a son we took custody. Ss has been in therapy and has major issues with woman. He takes all of his frustration out on me by calling me names, destroying my belongings, etc. I try to do my best with him, but he has started to get physical with me and has threatened to hurt dd's physically. He has good days when his mom isn't around, but if she calls or demands her supervised visits he blames us for making him go and it takes several weeks to get him back to normal. The judge has threatened dh's custody if he doesn't follow the court order. I grew up in an abusive home and I will not live in a home where I am providing knowing that I am not safe and will not do that to my girls. Dh hates that I am moving and have stated dd's are not allowed to be alone with ss. Even though I treat ss as my own emotionally, financially and all I am still considered a bad SM for my concerns. I am more patient with him because of his history and spend more on him than my 2 dd's together because of his therapies. His counsellor says I need to deal with the treatment I get from him because I am an adult and have been also been reamed like other step moms on sites for not doing more, being more, being better.

Of course the step mom should be "solely emotionally and physically responsible" for her stepChild. She married the father which resolves the dad and bio mom of that responsibility. Stepping up and helping isn't enough, she should take ob all the responsibility in order to give her husband an easy life and make up for the bioMom's failure to parent. Anything less makes a stepMom a horrible person. She knew exactly what she was getting into so all of the stepChild's issues, even those from before she met the dad are the stepMom's fault.

I don't have a kid with dh. DS5 is from a previous relationship. If I am solely emotionally and physically responsible for SD17 what is left for Dh? Why is her mom not expected to step up. I didn't say i don't do normal things for SD17, but why should I coddle her in ways I don't for my 5 year old. I have been trying to teach her how to cook, clean, be organized, balance handling busines vs fun the same as I do for BS5. I'm helping with college applications, but she and Dh expect me to just do it all. I can't legally make decisions for SD17 as I'm not her bio. I can give her advice and guide her being an extra adult in her life, but ultimately it is up to her bios. As far as the financial part I don't agree I should be responsible for everything. She has 2 bios and me as a backup, BS5 only has me.

DH said he thought when he got SD17 to move in with us that I would cart her around, do girly stuff with her, help her with her homework, take her to get her nails done, do her laundry, cook and clean for her, etc. because I do all of those things for BS5. (well not the nails and girly stuff) Yes I will help, but she's not my kid and it's not my fault that BM sucks as a mother. I didn't get married to save the day. I didn't get married to inherit all the responsibility of a kid. If I wanted to be solely emotionally and physically responsible for a kid that's not mine, I would have adopted or fostered one a long time ago. Geesh.. why is it so difficult to understand???

On Friday DD16 and her BFF were doing homework together in the cafeteria during lunch. DD got up to go get her lunch tray and BFF was still there working. The HS office secretary went to the table and accused them of cheating -in front of all the other students- and took both the girls' notebooks. BFF was very upset. When she gets upset or emotional she's prone to asthma/panic attacks, and within minutes she was having an attack. At which time, the secretary was gone down the hall with the notebooks and BFF had no help. After reviewing the homework, the girls' teacher determined there was no cheating. Naturally, BFF's mother is beyond livid. She's out for blood and wants that secretary fired. Meanwhile, DD was not upset by this incident at all and thinks everyone's making a mountain out of a molehill. But- she wasn't there when the secretary came over and made a scene. A little more info: this is not the first time the secretary has done this, making loud, public cheating accusations and confiscating homework. I think she has no business doing that, she's not qualified and shouldn't have that authority. I really need opinions. Please comment.

Was watching The Doctors this AM. A lady had her service animal, a pig with on a plane with her. (I guess she had special permission). The pig was noisy and pooped so they got kicked off. What's up with all these people needing "support" animals for mental & emotional issues, I get the ones for blindness and seizures. Didn't she realize she would be disrupting others on that plane? Or was she only thinking of herself? Sometimes you have to realize you are a little different and just can't do everyday things without it being a problem. That's my HO and I'm sticking with it..
