There was a dog fighting ring bust in my hometown this weekend. 47 arrests of people from 5 states, vehicles, cash, drugs all seized. Guess how they rile the dogs up to fight? They stab them. My heart breaks for those poor babies. May all 47 of those involved and all the other dog fighting scum out there get stabbed for "fun". Makes me sick.

I get so tired of seeing posts on the local pet lost & found FB group about missing dogs. Its always one of a couple stories. They left their tiny puppy outside by itself, came back, and it was gone. The dog is an "escape artist" and got out of the yard again. First of all, don't be stupid and leave your tiny puppy outside by itself! What are you thinking?? Second of all, around where I live, I see lots of yards that have makeshift "patches" on fences to keep the dogs in the yard. One yard in general is covered in random sized boards and sticks, and yet the dog gets out all the time. How about you not be cheap and actually FIX your fence? Irresponsible pet owners tick me off. I get accidents happen, but when its the same thing over and over and over again, obviously you need to change your tactics.

I'm working on getting my dogs used to the pet rat so the rat can run around the house when the dogs are inside because winter is here and the dogs don't spend as much time outside. I am constantly repeating to the dogs "She's our pet, she's not food."

A few weeks ago dsd11 & 12 asked if they could have a get together on Halloweeen after the kids are done Trick or Treating. Dd11 also wants to do this so I told all 3 of them they could invite their friends. All 3 girls have been really excited for this. Bio mom is now threatening to deny Dh's visitation for this weekend. So now Dh is saying if they aren't here dd should cancel on her friends to be fair. I told him it's too late. Kids have already been invited, I've talked to some of their parents and we have some family friends coming with their kids. Plus I've already bought ingredients for corn dogs, meatballs, hot wings, potatoe skins, chips, salsa and 7 layer dip, chocolates, etc. And... Dd and I decorated the front and back yard. We put lights and spider webs all over the trampoline. I understand Dh is worried and will be disappointed if they don't make it. All he can do is file a complaint on Monday. However, he always feels my DD should miss out if his kids aren't around. They still get to live and enjoy life when they are with their mom so DD shouldn't have to stop living waiting for dsds weekends to come around. I knew there would be challenges, but Step life is more complicated than I imagined it could be.

My dinner tonight is boring, crockpot beef with potatoes and carrots. Of course, the kids will eat "mummies" (hot dogs wrapped in croissant rolls) for Halloween.

I went out of town Saturday and returned home to an awesome surprise. My fiancé and his parents finished building our fence! I spent ALL day yesterday playing with our dogs outside. We have four dogs and they can't all be around each other (lots of issues, lol), but they all had a blast outside when it was their turn. After they played, sunbathed, and ran around to their heart's content, I gave them all baths and trimmed their nails. Typically at bedtime we hear some whining since only one sleeps with us. Last night it was all crickets, I really wore them out. It was my idea of a perfect day!

My house smells like dog pee. I love my dogs, but I really get fed up with them sometimes. We have never caught them peeing in the house, they are the sneakiest little motherfuckers. We take them outside, praise them for going potty, then they sneak off and pee somewhere. What's funny, not funny ha ha, but funny infuriating, is that they don't do it when we're not home.

Feeling sad. My brother is putting his old dog down today. It's just time, to keep her alive at this point is a selfish thing because she's just suffering. As of yesterday she can't even walk anymore, and she's stopped eating. She and our lab are the last of their generation. There are a bunch of dog 'cousins' between DH & I, my brother, my SIL (dh's sis), and MIL. There were eight dogs to start with between all of us. And after my brother's old dog is gone, our lab will be the very last of that crew left alive. We have all gotten new puppies and have more dog cousins, but soon our lab will be the last 'old dog'. And he will go next. Boo.

What is it with DH's who buy their wives trips they don't like? Is it epidemic?! My DH did that to me last year. My "present" was going to his parents' beach house at the shore. Sounds good on paper, right? Well, their "house" is a tiny place in a trailer park that is hot hot hot all the time and smells moldy. They have two awful big dogs that slobber and jump on you. We dont' get along at all. MIL complains constantly about her bowels and body aches, to the point DH can't take it and disappears out back to help FIL "Work on the car". I was expected to talk to and entertain MIL, who is never satisfied or happy. Forget laying on the beach taking in the sun and waves...she burns, she blisters, she peels. Why do they even LIVE there in the summertime? She hates swimming in the ocean and is afraid of sharks and jellyfish. So we are relegated to shopping (but the shopkeepers are never helpful enough) eating out (the food is always bad, she has to send it back) and watching movies (she talks through them incessantly). What's left? WINE! I get drunk daily when I am there. Last time I told him under no circumstances would that every be a "Gift" to me ever again. We had to really hash it out, he was shocked I didn't enjoy myself! REALLY DH? From now on, a trip to your parents' house gets filed under "HUGE ENORMOUS FAVOR I DID YOU...YOU OWE ME BIG TIME!" To his credit, he felt so bad about my disappointment that he got me some lovely flowers and new set of dishes I'd been eyeing.
