I hate how I get overwhelmed with emotional tears so easily. So embarrassing.

I finally watched the 1940's movie "Gas Light" where the term "Gaslighting" as emotional abuse comes from. That is some crazy shit he was doing to her. My ex did it on a milder level - I swear he would throw away things of mine so I'd think I'd lost them. He also told me we had been to a restaurant and even told me what I ordered, even though I KNOW we had never been there. I even went to the doctor thinking I had a brain tumor or something. Asshole. Extra crispy hot place in hell reserved for him.

I lost 55 lbs and have kept it off for over 4 years. A big part of that was getting rid of emotional weight, some of which I worked through with a therapist. But I also started writing down every single thing I thought about food, about my body, about other people's bodies, about sex, about exercise. Everything. Every compliment. Every criticism. Every memory of my obese mom or sister with food. Every food reward. Every food shame. Fears. Dreams. Desires. I wrote it all down. And I think I learned a TON about myself that way and worked through even more. I would recommend it to anyone trying not just to lose weight, but to keep it off. If you can't recognize how you got to whatever weight, then you're not going to be able to maintain the weight loss.

How do I get rid of this emotional weight so I can start losing this fat weight? I'm so stuck. I love food. I hate the emotional baggage that I think is holding me down. I know how/what to eat to have good nutrition, I know how to exercise. I just need to do it, but what about the emotional weight?? Does that go away?! I don't want to fall back into my fatness.

I'm so overwhelmed by the intensity of my feelings for him. For years, I needed no one, cared for no one but myself and my kids. Now I think of how much I enjoy his presence in my life and how I'm starting to depend on him. It scares the shit out of me and makes me feel so emotional.

I finally feel like The Universe is saying, "It's your turn." My husband is back in our former city and already flourishing with a great new job, and spending time with his friends and family. He is on his way back to being mentally, emotionally, financially, and physically stable. I am so happy to see him be his true self again. I have an interview set up when I move back with him, and I feel that there's no where else to go but UP, as we have been at rock bottom before and are slowly coming out of it.

My girlfriend trapped her "boyfriend" with a baby. Totally backfired since she was the other woman and there was no way in hell he was ever going to leave his "wife" and kids for her. Unfortunately he passed away and now she has nothing, not even his social security since he refused to sign the birth certificate. And the rest of the family shunned the child too. This is why it is important who you sleep with and protect yourself physically and emotionally. Lots of damage and heartache going on still. The "wife" would see my friend at gravesite and she would call security on her, they didn't do anything though since she wasn't doing anything wrong.

My DH has a friend who likes to talk to me. He always comments on my FB statuses and will talk to me when he comes over to hang out with DH. He's single and not very good-looking, but he's nice and funny and he respects my intelligence. I sort of wish my DH would talk to me the same way his friend does. DH never comments on my FB statuses or links and he barely talks to me when he gets home from work. This is how emotional affairs start :(

I knew moving away from my hometown I would grow apart from my friends but never did I think that same emotional distance would happen with family. The friends quickly disappeared but my family has slowly happened. No one ever calls me and when I call them they act like it is a chore to speak with me. If I am not there they don't seem to care about me, dh and ds. I try to keep them as much a part of our lives as I can but I guess that isn't enough.

My father has a "strong personality" and had trouble keeping a job. My mother is very lazy and not a people person and also had trouble keeping a job. This resulted in financial struggles thru my whole childhood. We moved often, sometimes twice in one year. I switched schools constantly, and as a result did not do very well in school. We once went a few days without milk due to no money, and once had no hot water for a month due to no money for oil. Now, my parents are in their mid 60's and are looking to close the small business they own and retire. They qualify for reduced cost senior housing. It is in a good area but is small and not fancy. They want DH and I to take them in. They are in good health so we are not going to have them move in at this time. I would have given anything as a child to have the stability and security that I would have had with career parents, instead of always being the new kid, not having a hot shower for a month and eating dry cereal. Oh yeah, and my mother was always there but she was verbally and emotionally abusive to me, and my father was controlling when I was living at home.
