Christians are well versed in losing their shit. Not all of them though. My brother is a pastor, and he's the least bible-thumping Christian I know. He never even asks me about my religion, probably because I never offer any views or opinions. And he's my brother. I wish more Christians were like him. He runs a massive soup kitchen program and a lot of children's programs. What he doesn't do is judge people. I'm not religious, BTW. I'm more of a spiritual person, I believe more in karma. But if there is a God, and he's a loving God like they say, I cannot imagine he'd let a decent person go to hell for using the critical thinking skills that He provided me with. And if He does, I guess them's the breaks.

When a Christian mocks mental illness or someone who is of a different belief it okay for them to do it. Christians don't see the problem and if someone speaks up they call them snowflakes. If someone mocks Christianity, Christians lose their shit.

I suppose you never heard of Matthew Shepard right? He was beaten to death and tortured on a post because he was gay! And i suppose you haven’t seen the stats on the high rate of Christian husbands beating their wives!! America the beautiful.

Muslims are trying to kill troops overseas because troops overseas are killing them. How would you like it if some country decided to come over here and plant troops in the US for a few years? Probably wouldn't be too happy about it, especially if the people from that country were pretty open with their anti-Christian beliefs. But the US does this with other countries and wonders why they don't like us

Muslims aren't trying to kill troops overseas. There is a certain group of people who are trying to kill troops and they happen to be of the same faith but please don't group all Muslims into the category. That is like saying all Christians are just like Westboro Baptist Church or all Atheists are like Mussolini and Stalin.

When my husband and I were looking for a church, we purposely showed our tattoos when we were attending services. We didn't wear crazy clothes or anything. We just wore short sleeved shirts that didn't hide our tattoos. If people were judgmental assholes, including the pastors, we didn't go back. It took us over six months to find a church where the good, love thy neighbor Christians were genuinely friendly, kind people. I love the church we go to, but damn. I totally understand why people have an aversion to Christianity. I love Jesus but a good deal of His followers are judgmental dicks. (Neither of us have offensive tattoos, btw.)

If a church is shaming you, find another one. It's that simple. The kind of Christians you want to associate with are going to welcome you and want you to enjoy. I wouldn't be part of a church where people aren't nice and where the message isn't uplifting. What would be the point? (I have left churches because of the above issues.)

I don't think it's a particular type of church. Christianity as a whole is pretty misogynistic and aims to shame. It's cool when people can separate Jesus from the crazy fire and brimstone

What churches are you people going to? I was raised Christian. I am still practicing and am raising my children in the same faith. I never felt shamed. If anything, I was taught that we are all imperfect, and God loves us no matter what. If you are feeling shamed, you need to find a new church. They're not all like that.

I remember growing up and hating myself because I thought of myself as such a bad person. I just knew I wasn't going to make it into heaven. I was so scared to burn in hell because I wasn't a perfect Christian. I was a young and child should never sit there and doubt themselves because they aren't perfect and think their fate is all of eternity in flames. Luckily I met a woman when I was 18 at my job that became like a mentor to me and showed me the life beyond small town bible belt beliefs. I had always questioned it from about 13 years old but the core of me was still scared and I had no one to talk to about it. I had no way to look things up and research other beliefs beyond Christianity. I got baptized as a young child and I knew why but deep down I was still so confused. I just went along with it because I was supposed to. I knew that was certainly sending me to hell getting baptized when my heart wasn't in it and I didn't understand it all like everyone else.
