I think the refigerator that shows you whats in it via your phone app is ridiculous. I don't care that it's convenient that you can see in it from the store, it's lazy and just stupid, god forbid you just remember to look inside or get off your ass and go look. We are so reliant on cell phones and technology to do every little thing for us it's absurd. What's next? A toilet that will wipe our ass for us. Well I suppose that's great for the elderly. But on the commercial when the wife won't look in it because she has to melon ball, I mean come the fuck on. I dunno, it seems more like we are dumbing ourselves down. Laziness...

Exactly! Be a fucking adult and get shit done. Why is that so hard for some people (men or women). I also think IMO it's much worse since technology has become more prominent. It's easier to sit on you butt and stare at your phone/tablet/computer ignoring what is needing to be done.

I suppose the gov't now has technology to get inside the heads of everyone so that secret racists can be exposed and jailed. Kind of like there's now technology like security cameras to ferret out the secret robbers so they can be caught. And secret pedophiles now get caught through online technology. So we gotta catch them illegal racists too, if we can prove on this site that there actually is a law against being a racist.

"You killed people that attacked you". So all those people burned to a crisp in Hiroshima and Nagasaki are the ones who made the decision to bomb Pearl Harbor are they? All the politicians and military leaders were in Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the time? No babies, children, women, men who had nothing to do with this? You act like the entire Japanese race attacked the US. As if they are all one hive mind who just decided en masse to commit an atrocity. That is not what happened. Governments decide. Citizens don't. Citizens died, governments didn't. This is the attitude that will draw us into WWIII. There is a reason there hasn't been a third world war...because we all know what happens if there is another, with our current nuclear technology. No we can't just lie down and let IS do their shit, but nor can we just level Iraq and Syria and condemn countless innocents to death.

I have been one of the people posting about re-entering a professional work environment after years at home. I got a job!! I will be working in a job that is mostly writing related. Any tips for the things/skills I might want to be sure I brush up on related to technology? I am proficient in MS Word (obvi), Outlook for email and calendars, some Excel. Also, anything you think that might help me not seem like a moss-covered relic? Thanks!

I am tired of people posting on FB about prayer being taken out of schools and that's why the world is going to shit. First of all, there were murders, storms, rapes, thefts, sickness and suffering centuries ago when people were way more religious than they are today. It's just more public nowadays. For heavens' sakes, infanticide was common in many cultures and women were kidnapped by their bridegrooms' tribes in others. Do you really think more prayer is what makes the world better? I say it's science and technology and improving living conditions for all people.

I agree with the poster and her son having an xbox and ipad. My siblings and I were tv addicts. And when we were preteen/teens we were also hooked on older video game systems. We still had to do our homework and chores before any lounging around. My daughter has an ipad and I let her watch appropriate shows and play games on it as a reward for doing her homework. I don't see how our nation is being terrorized by this stuff. I turned out right, got good grades, and went to college even though I spent my childhood more in front of a tv than I did with friends. My siblings and I were all clumsy introverts. We sucked at sports and preferred docile activities. We connected through playing games and watching tv. It was how we bonded. Granted, I understand there are people who let their kids get crazy over technology. But it's nothing new.

My ds has an ipad and an xbox. He playes games on them and he also looks up videos (favorites are Good Mythical Morning Vsauce?), anyways, he rarely watches tv. Like he'll watch maybe a couple of hours a week. Maybe. Which is so weird because when I was a kid I watched hours and hours of tv. I'd get up on Saturday morning at 5am to start watching and wouldn't stop for hours. I was in a ton of sports and activities and played with my friends etc too, but boy did I love my tv also known as duh duh duh technology. Kids just use different forms of tech these days, but they're really not much different than us.

It's not hard to keep track of birthdays, especially with technology. You can add them to any online calendar (Google, Outlook, etc) and set up reminders. I don't really get why you don't want to send out birthday cards. You're not obligated to, sure, but if it makes your friends/family happy, why not? You can buy them in bulk or make them yourself on the cheap. I just don't see why people giving you birthday cards/gift cards is a problem.
