Firstly, I agree with raising the minimum wage. But I also agree that Americans have it DAMN good. Until you've seen people in places like Brazil, living in the ghettos or on the streets you don't have a CLUE what poverty is. And spare me the bullshit that we have it here too. We also have programs to help those people to give them a chance, they don't have that in countries with true poverty.

"They" and "We". That's very dangerous language. The sort of language that leads to racism and genocide. Yeah, lets just carpet bomb all them dirty muzzers, obviously they ALL hate us not just the minority of psychos. Who cares about all the innocent children that will die or be born with two heads because of radiation poisoning in the future? Who cares about the moderate people living among the religious nutjobs? Who cares about the other religions of people living amongst them? They're not American, why should we care? Seriously, that is fucking disgusting. Apparently you want humanity to start devolving rather than evolving. Oh, and by the way, there is actually no evidence to suggest that when we first evolved into our current form, we were warlike. There are plenty of scholars who think we actually started out as a peaceful species. Obviously, as time went on we did become more warlike. But to assume we were always that way is basically an impossible statement.

I can't believe all the hype about Kate Middleton giving birth soon. In the USA at least. I didn't realize it was such a big deal to us Americans. I know they are the royal family, but still, I'm American, I hope it's healthy and all that, but otherwise I don't really care!

Even if a single person, no kids, healthy-works a mcjob, 7.25/hr will not pay for their life and I doubt they will even get 40 hrs a week so there's that. Again, WHY does this person HAVE to get a second or third job, take up with roommates, get a degree etc. just to make ends meet. Why? If that's where they want to work for the rest of their lives, why can't they? Maybe that's all they are capable of doing. Maybe they don't want to be a lawyer or a doctor even if they had the intellect to do so. Regarding cost of living, COL has been going up and up every year regardless of wage. That will never cease/increase/decrease no matter what happens with wage. I'm not advocating $15/hr across the board, but I know in some parts of the U.S. $15/hr is barely scraping by. Even without a family to support. But a higher min wage I do support. So women don't have to use toilet paper for sanitary napkins, so families don't have to live piled on top of one another, so the bike messenger can get by while he saves/works for something better instead of being in a vicious cycle of just work work work..sleep..barely eat..barely pay bills..work work work. And according to some folks, you shouldn't have a family if you can't support them..duh..why do you think people want a better wage? So they can start a family. Why do they have to be without a family of their own just because they choose to work at McDonald's? What happened to being pro-life?? And being a Christian and being about family. What happened to being American and Freedom?? Freedom to choose our lives within the law? Flipping burgers is an honest job. While it doesn't require degrees and higher education, it still requires commitment and honesty and just because you don't have those higher education skills, doesn't mean you don't deserve to live in your own place being able to pay your bills and not have to worry about tampons or food. Some people just don't get it. I want people to live on minimum wage and tell us what it's like. Thank you for reading my long winded probably doesn't make sense post if you made it this far.

For almost 150 years the United States has been conducting an interesting experiment. The subjects of the experiment: black people and working-class whites. The hypothesis to be tested: Can a people taken from the jungles of Africa and forced into slavery be fully integrated as citizens in a majority white population? The whites were descendants of Europeans who had created a majestic civilization. The former slaves had been tribal peoples with no written language and virtually no intellectual achievements. Acting on a policy that was not fair to either group, the government released newly freed black people into a white society that saw them as inferiors. America has struggled with racial discord ever since.

Good for your parents and grandparents! Bet they were American, and notice it didn't go back any further than that, right? And families helping you out isn't a free ride. Ridiculous. Get the fuck over yourself.

The whole concept of staying with your parents well into adulthood is definitely the way they do things in other parts of the world...however, they also expect the children to become caregivers for their elderly parents when they no longer can do things on their own. I have a feeling that most American boomerang kids move back in with Mom and Dad and get help from them but probably aren't so eager to let their parents move in with them in 30 years and change their diapers and take care of them. It's a two way street.

Actually, yes being totally independent at 18 without parental help IS a new concept. It's a pretty American concept too. Go to other countries like Latin American countries or Asian countries. Families help each other out all the time financially.

Eostre, Ostara, or Easter, is the Germanic name of a mythological goddess of spring who returns from her slumber during the spring equinox. Celebrations for her return include spending time outside, enjoying fresh greens and gardens, and offering her dyed eggs that represent her power of divine fertility and the renewed nature of the season. Her fertility is also recognized by the symbol of the hare in heat, or Easter rabbit, or anything that represents new life and birth (fresh flowers, baby animals, etc.). This holiday is one of the sabbats on the Wiccan/Neopagan Wheel of the Year occurring in late March (for the Northern hemisphere) and also April for those who like generic American holidays or don't ask too many religious questions. Happy Easter/Ostara/Resurrection of Christ, whatever it is you like.
