What the US really needs is to get rid of the 2 party system. Both parties are so corrupt it's sickening. If you think your representatives actually give a rat's ass about what's best for anyone but themselves, you're wrong. The only thing they car about is making more money (even though most members of congress are already millionaires). Lobbying is just legal bribery, but the only way it can change is if those same people taking the bribes decide to outlaw it, like that's going to happen. When there are other candidates on the ballot, no ones even knows about it, because there's no media coverage about them. Why? Because guess who owns most of the media corporations? Politicians. And guess who are some of the biggest lobbyers? Media companies. People like Nanacy Pelosi, who has a net worth of $190 MILLION won't even vote to subject herself to the same health insurance options as everyone else. Hell, she doesn't even pay for her own coverage - we do. Mitch McConnell's net worth is about $10 MILLION, but taxpayers will still provide him an annual salary for the rest of his life. Do you really think people like that give a shit about the average person in America? Do you really think they want any of that to change? The last think I want to see on the next ballot is Hillary Clinton of Jeb Bush. We need to stop electing life-long politicians who have earned most of their money at the expense of the people who need it most.

Um women's rights has nothing to do with Democrat or Republican, but the replublican party is absolutely notorious for keeping women's rights behind the rest of the civilized world. Get with it America.

Just read a story about the 10 Least Educated States in America. All but one (Indiana) were south of the Mason-Dixon line. Shocker.

My sister is pissed at me because I bought an american girl doll for her daughter for Christmas. I wanted to get my nieces something special so I got them the dolls . I am not returning them because she refuses to work and so can't afford to buy nice things for her daughter. Why can't I spoil my nieces?

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the operational mastermind responsible for the attack on the World Trade Center in 2011 that killed 3000+ people, also killed Wall St. Journal reporter Danny Pearl. He bragged about it. "I decapitated with my blessed right hand the head of the American Jew," he said when he was captured. Khalid Mohammed was waterboarded 183 times. Does anyone except a handful of idiots care?

I can't help but wonder if the Weight Watchers commercial jingle (if you're happy and you know it, eat a snack) is achieving the opposite effect? Like becoming the soundtrack to thousands of Americans eating more? It's so memorable and suggestive!

Yeah, I'm pretty amazed by people like Amy Hughes who tackle massive running goals. I desperately want to run a 50 miler or maybe even a 100 miler one day - which is one of the reasons physical setbacks really tick me off. I love the idea of running across America or the Sahara or even just running a marathon every weekend! The ortho's PA yesterday called me a "high level athlete," and though I'm totally not compared to the folks like Amy Hughes, I've been grinning about it all day long because I WANT to be that good. Maybe one day? If I win the lottery? ;)

Vega had an awesome reputation, and I trust Brendan Brazier. It does have good stuff in there. However, I once go to sample all the shake and drink flavors at a Whole Foods demo, and I really didn't like the taste of the artificial sweetener (stevia maybe? I can't remember). So I just use the TJs hemp protein powder I mentioned before. I also agree that Americans eat too much protein, so I only add half a serving. It tastes better that way too - not as gritty. Oh! I also add a tablespoon of TJs Very Green powder for extra vitamins and minerals.

I watched a few documentaries of how the "Western" diet came about. It was a lot of political action that was designed to create cheap food for America. Subsidies for corn and grain encouraged farmers to grow it and then companies could buy those things cheap and turn them into crackers, cookies, cakes, breads, buns, etc. that pretty much created heart disease and obesity as an epidemic. Everyone should theoretically go back to eating an Asian diet, a Mediterranean diet, a traditional Native American diet, etc. But just like it'd be damn near impossible for us to go back to eating corn and squash and beans and venison all the time, it's pretty tough for other cultures to go back to fish and rice and vegetables.
