As heartbreaking as your situation is, if it gets to that point again, I would call adult protective services.

Recently learned that my Dad's been living in filth (I live over 1000 miles away from him). Sent a woman to clean house and she was appalled. Not one clean dish or pan in the place, food in fridge that had expired a year ago, and a bathroom so filthy she couldn't get it clean. Brother (he lives 20 minutes away) and I have talked to him about assisted living; he screams at me and placates my brother. We want him to make decisions for himself but it's obvious he won't. Considering having him declared incompetent is breaking my heart.

I'm so confused why people think women would publicly lie about any kind of metoo. The only reasons I can think of offhand are, you really, really hate the person and you want to be vindictive, and/or you have Munchausen's or something like that. Any fame you get will always be tainted. You would have to be twisted or extremely naive not to realise that the likes, shares and "We heart you" comments are in no way going to make up for publicly being raked over the coals, called a liar, slut, your appearance dissected ad infinitum, and dealing with the scores of death and rape threats you'd get from sad Cheeto covered incels in their mother's basement. There is no other crimes where people immediately question whether you're lying.

It's not really that hard to understand. For generations, people have been lied to in this country about "socialism" and "communism." We've been lied to about 6 month wait lists for heart surgery and testing. We've been lied to about waiting in line for 6 hours to get medication. What we now have is generations of people parroting a lie about "socialized medicine," who vote against their own interests because politicians, who've been bought out by HMOs and drug companies, lied to them FOR DECADES.

I hope this isn't too personal, but do any of you ladies ever have anal sex? I don't with my dh of 20 years, but used to with my hs sweetheart. It seems like there is such a stigma to it, but i did enjoy it. He was a lot smaller size than my dh so it didn't hurt either. My dh is grossed out by it.

Yesterday I sat on a rock while meditating (something I rarely do) and out of nowhere a heart-shaped balloon comes floating by. I watched it for few moments before it gently floated away. Sending you love wherever you are!

I live a few miles from our downtown area and work. I really like my apartment as my neighbors have quieted down. I love living on my own for the first time since March. But I've been getting worried. A few mons ago, there were fatal shootings in nearby neighborhoods. Yesterday, there was one about 1/2 mile away from home. This has been the closest so far. :( :( :( I heard blaring sirens, but didn't imagine a fatal shooting that close during daylight. Reading heartbreaking posts on Nextdoor about a woman who saw the aftermath. She has been traumatized. I'm going to reach out and see if she wants someone to listen. WTF. I have to consider moving out.

I'm not interested in trying to change the minds of racists. Their minds are made up. Willfully hateful and ignorant people don't change their thinking because someone explains that racism is wrong. And people who manipulate or exploit others for power or financial gain don't listen either. They don't have hearts. I am interested in one thing- winning. I am interested in building social movements that shift the balance of power, and that's it. Everything else is just noise. So please- join something. Volunteer for something. Show up for something, and keep showing up. Because ordinary people, when they unite, can beat the forces of evil. Yes, I said evil. Let me repeat it- we are fighting evil, and if we don't fight back, our society is going to continue to descend into chaos.

I agree with you OP, I definitely want to not let small stuff bother me and enjoy living life. I want to be more kind and patient with myself this year. Also, I want to spend time doing focused inner self work to clear my out the stuff weighing on my mind and heart.

I'm really surprised at how many people my age don't exercise at all. I'm 40 and I ski, bike, walk, run, use the cross trainer, jump rope, lift weights. Most people my age can barely walk 30 minutes, at least the people in my social group. I don't feel 40 though...I don't have any body pain, I'm flexible, and my heart is in great shape. I wish people realized how great it is for your overall health. It really is the closest thing there is to a fountain of youth.
