Just because I am Scottish and I voice my opinion that I don't like an uneducated American voicing their opinion about our country's independence, doesn't mean I go around talking about American's politics, nor do I have an opinion about it. Why do you ASSume I do? GMAFB. People on this site ASSume so much shit! Get over yourself, not everyone in the world cares about US politics.

OK, lets break it down. Telling someone you disagree with X course of action or politician and that YOU would never vote for them...that's sharing your opinion. Telling someone WHAT or WHO they should vote for, that's just rude. And once again I find myself having to repeat it. It doesn't matter who is telling who the telling, Americans telling Scots how to vote, Brits telling Americans how to vote, it's ill mannered and it pisses people off. And I have made it clear multiple times I don't have an issue with people's opinions, I have a problem with people telling me what to do.

Also given the amount of Americans who even can't locate the UK on a map it's not a big loss.

What, exactly, is the difference between telling someone you dislike a particular candidate and they shouldn't vote for him, and telling someone you dislike a particular course of action, and they shouldn't vote for it? Of course people shouldn't tell others how to vote, but people do it to Americans all the time. You're not special, you don't live in a magic fairy land immune from lobbying from the outside. I'm not posting again on this because it's irritating to other people who use this board when you don't use the "comment" function but come on, you're splitting hairs and it's absolutely ridiculous. If you don't like being exposed to other peoples' opinions, the internet is a bad place for you.

I don't know if you're incapable of reading, but all I said was people shouldn't tell others how to vote. I never said Brits don't do it to Americans, I'm saying they shouldn't. Saying "Bush is an arse and I would never vote for him" is not the same as saying "Scotland you should vote my way because of [insert reasons here].

I think there's a difference between having an opinion on a country's policies and telling them how to vote, IMO. Like, I'm not going to not criticise forced marriage of children to old men just because it's not happening in my country. But having someone continents away telling you how you should cast your vote is a bit galling...e.g. I liked Obama but I wasn't telling my American friends to vote for him...plus I'm honest enough to admit that I didn't know the issues in and out well enough to make a fair decision really, it's just a natural tendency to lean left for me. Whereas everyone and his toy poodle was weighing in telling Scots how to vote.

That's fine that you don't want us Americans weighing in on the Scotland debate as long as you stay out of what happens here In America when it comes to your opinions cause you can't have it both ways, you can't not be ok with us having an opinion about what is happening in your country and then go and join in on a debate with your own opinions and advice about our laws and whatnot that goes on here. You don't get to have your cake and it too, it doesn't work that way ~Singed someone whose grandma is a Scotland immigrant here in America~

I wasn't talking about the "Go Scotland" confession when saying that Americans had no idea what they were talking about when it came to the Scotland confession.

OMG there's another Scot on here? Just so you know, I'm the one who posted "Go Scotland"...and I'm Scottish, so yeah. I just happen to be abroad this year. I do agree the amount of weighing in by celebrities of all the other nations is highly annoying. But there are as many patronising non-Scot "No" opinions as there are "yes" ones. But I suppose a lot of Americans feel the same way when they have their elections...everybody loves to weigh in on those.
