Even if Michael Brown was a threatening person at the time of the event, there is no reason to shoot someone 6 TIMES!!! I don't understand why the officer wouldn't have tried for a leg or a foot. It would have been ample response to any type of threat. This is why it doesn't matter what Micheal Brown did or didn't do, there is no way in hell 6 shots were needed for the officer to protect himself. Maybe it's because I'm from canada, but I think things like this give Americans their reputation of gun happy, afraid of the big black man reputation.

Judging what Scottish people are capable of by shit that happened hundreds of years ago just proves you need to stop watching Braveheart and join the real world. "Hotheaded" really? Shall I start labelling all Americans as dumb? No, I'm not that ignorant.

A couple had a baby they couldn't afford and now the 14 year old girl has to give up her life to babysit the two younger ones so mom can go to her new job as a grocery checker. The mom sends money to her family overseas to support them because they refuse to work now that they have a rich American relative. I feel sorry for the barely 14 year old because she doesn't have a life. She's not responsible for the foreign relatives who won't work but her childhood is over. She takes care of a screaming 3 and 7 year old all day, and when she goes back to school in the fall, her mom will leave for work as daughter comes home. No after school activities or hanging out with friends. This seems so wrong. It is responsibility beyond her years.

Irish people may swear more than the average American but my parents are pure Irish and they do not swear at all. Never. Growing up I'd get a smack for letting a swear word slip out.

When I say I'm Irish and I swear a lot, I mean Irish. As in, born and raised. Not American with Irish heritage. It's not like we go around swearing in our workplaces or around children or anything but lots of swearing in a general conversation is not really a big deal at all. The Scots are the same...even the C word is used in a way that is not considered anywhere near as offensive as it is in other places...namely the states. And we're certainly not stupid people or any more classless than other nationalities, despite what the stereotypes like to say.

I am doing some research for a project and was absolutely stunned and sickened to learn that 30% of all teenage girls in America will get pregnant before they turn 20. That is crazy. Even crazier is that the vast majority of pregnant teens know about birth control, and knew how/where to get it, they just didn't use it or didn't use it consistently. How can we, as women, cry about having control of our bodies when we don't even exercise that control? ANd this statistic doesn't even include all of the 20, 30, or 40 something women who have unwanted pregnancies (which is actually a higher number than teens). Seriously, ladies, get your shit together.

Love my DH. Didn't see each other for two weeks. Had great sex, I gave him a massage, ice cream in bed while watching American Pickers.

My husband and I differ greatly on the circumcision debate for our son. I don't want it done, but he does. I really don't know how to properly care for a circumcised penis, but obviously someone could instruct me or I could Google it. His reasoning is that it would be hard to maintain or teach our son to maintain cleanliness and he is circumcised with no issues. My OB didn't advocate for or against, she just said that there isn't any real scientific studies for either side. I do think that it an infant is entitled to bodily autonomy, but maybe I am just another American...so entitled.

I once had sex with a woman and her vagina smelled funny so all vaginas are nasty...seriously, these people afraid of a natural male body are pathetic. I live in the UK, most men are uncircumcised here, and I've only come across one guy who smelled like piss, because he didn't wash properly. I suppose it's better to let little boys have the most sensitive part of their penis taken off because some prissy bitches think they are worth more than the bodily autonomy of a tiny child. Wow, some Americans are SO entitled. Let the flame war commence.

I live in a mid-sized city in the Midwest. We have German fest, Irish fest, Mexican fest, Pride fest, and Greek fest. The large African American historical center and museum hosts a large expo every year. The Korean community has a large festival at a huge park every year. There are even several American Indian tribes that have public celebrations all year round. I'm sure people would think that I simply live in a boring, predominantly 'white' city but people really go out of there way here to celebrate all the different cultures.
