I read this guy's Facebook. He is so racist. He says Obama is no good because he does not do special favors for the black community. He says banks, gov't, should pay blacks reparations. White people should pay the too. My grandparents weren't even in America until the 1950's. Slavery is over, today's whites do not owe today's blacks money! But then he also made posts that all white people are devils and he wants all of them dead. WOW.

So I did online customer service for this company about six months ago. My experience with them was absolutely terrible. They were sending out customer's products weeks late, often in unusable condition. On several occasions the payment system charged people's cards multiple times until their bank account was emptied. They were constantly doing Groupons but the website wouldn't accept the code. Generally the website was complicated to use and would only work on one browser, and certainly not mobile devices. And even that one browser had issues with it sometimes. I was given stock replies to send out, and there was no customer service phone number. I couldn't solve anyone's problems, and I couldn't get hold of my boss. This company is still at it...I keep an eye on their Facebook and they delete negative comments every day. I kinda just want to tell everybody about my experience working there because so many people are getting ripped off, but I'm a bit afraid of libel. People really, really deserve to know how terrible this company is though.

The only thing I can't stand to see on Facebook is gruesome pictures (people or animals that have been severely injured, stuff like that). I try to either scroll past it quickly, or hide it, but it still takes forever for those images to leave my brain. And, this really doesn't make sense, but seeing stuff like that in person doesn't bother me. I used to work at a vet's office, and am now a first responder, and it doesn't affect me like seeing the pictures.

Hey, I knew someone who was a braggart so much that when she got cancer, she found a way to put a bragging spin on that! She talked how her and her DH went on some fancy luxury vacation to "take in the news". OMG! Then to get sympathy and attention, when she realized she wasn't going to lose her hair as a side effect of the chemo, she shaved it and told everyone that she did lose her hair. This girl was nuts. She posted her "bald pics" all over Facebook, fishing for attention. She bragged so badly (I caught her in a couple lies) it was obvious she was a liar and inflated her importance and her life, but later I found out just how bad she did so... I was floored at the lengths she went to, just to make herself seem rich, happy, etc to others. She really put up a facade!!

I posted a picture of my new car on facebook. Will a 6 year old hatchback make people jealous? :P

So, according to the self-appointed Facebook police: no bragging. No humble-bragging. No talking about your new possessions of any kind, because there are starving kids in Africa don't you know. Excessive baby posts/wedding posts/new home posts. No inflammatory or offensive (to me) opinions. No excessive whining and bitching. No oversharing. No excessive updates about your healthy lifestyle. No vaguebooking. No taking swipes at other people unless you want to share all the gory details. No chain letters or just believing every article you read without further research. Selfies. Duckface selfies. Overtly sappy posts about your OH. Ironic use of hashtags. Use of hashtags full stop. Umm...so basically, I can post internet memes and that's it?

Looking back over my Facebook feed, pretty much everything I've posted that is personal and not about news items or opinions, could be considered bragging. Finally hit 27 laps for my roller derby minimum skills, lost X amount of weight, just bought my new skates today (complete with picture), trip to Prague (which is an extremely cheap location from my part of the world), planning for a big volunteer trip to a South American country next year. Truth is I make minimum wage and I'm studying and I work very, very hard, forgo small things and save very hard to be able to get those luxuries, and those posts are spread over months, it's not like I can click my fingers and buy whatever I want. The only reason I can afford them is that my partner owns his flat outright- no mortgage (and he slaved decades in a job he despised in order to do that) so I don't have rent and in that sense I'm lucky. If people don't want to know these things about me, they can unsubscribe or unfriend me. This is my life and I'm sharing it. I don't think I'm better than anybody and I cherish these luxuries when I can have them. Frankly I'd rather hear about the good in people's lives than listen to people constantly bitching and whining about every little thing. Negative nellies annoy me far more than braggers. I understand sometimes shit stuff happens and you want your friends to know, but I'm talking about the people who post multiple updates a day and they are pretty much all negative, vaguebooking or digs at other people.

What is Facebook about if not sharing your life? If your life happens to involve a lot of travel, then there's really no way to share that without it being bragging, humble or otherwise. Guaranteed you posting any pictures of yourself in an exotic location is going to trigger negativity in some people because of jealousy. If you compete in a sport, you probably spend a lot of money to do so (I'm a horse rider so I'm very familiar with this). You get people who get annoyed at others for everything...because you have kids and I want them. Because I have a hobby that keeps me fit and I spend a lot of money on and you are jealous of the time and money I have to spend on that hobby and the shape it keeps me in. Because you shared that I finally managed to get a mortgage and you're proud of that and I'm upset that I can't get one. All of that could be construed by some as bragging, by others as sharing what's in their lives. So if talking about what you've spent your money on is bragging, you lot should shut up about your kids, your weddings, your holidays, because pretty sure someone on your friends list wants those very things and is saddened because they can't have them. Lets face it, if we stopped all that, Facebook would be nothing but doge memes and shared petitions.

Sorry, but no. If I get some new possession that I love, then I'm sharing it on Facebook. I did that recently with some really expensive sporting equipment. What people don't know is that I spent ages saving for it, as perhaps many people with expensive cars and homes have done. A lot of times people do have more money because they have good sense with that money. I have very little sense when it comes to money and I can appreciate that and I can still feel happy for them. If people dislike me even discussing something that I loved that i worked hard to earn, then frankly they can go fuck themselves because I don't need small jealous people in my life. I'd rather be tacky and tasteless than a person who can't be happy for others.

People brag about everything else on Facebook. I've seen people bragging over the size of their child's shits. Perhaps the fact that we consider being proud and showing it something negative is the reason "humblebragging" exists in the first place. How is bragging about how much money you made worse than bragging about how much weight you lost, or how well you did passing at college or winning a competition of some sort? It's only tasteless and tacky if you're a jealous little bitch. Live your own life instead of being jealous of others.
