Posting, then ducking for cover. My teenaged nieces eat mac and cheese/buttered pasta/chicken strips/standard kidd meal fare every dinnertime. Breaded, fried, etc. Their faces are covered in acne. DD doesn’t get to eat off the kids meal; she eats off the adult menu-steak or fish or chicken, plus a vegetable and a fruit. If we know the restaurant doesnt have fruit, we pack fruit from home. She is 1 year younger than her younger cousin, but has a toddler’s amazing complexion. Will I be eating my words in a year’s time? For what it’s worth, I ate a shitty diet and had (and still have) the world’s worst adult acne, so she’s not genetically blessed.

DS wanted to take me out for Mother's Day. We went to our favorite restaurant, which is very popular and full any day or time of the week. They don't take reservations. It was a madhouse today, but the food is worth the wait. Right as we got there, a woman, with her husband and son in tow, was stomping out. "This is BS! I'm not waiting! We'll just go to effin McDonald's!" Geez lady, it's a holiday. If you don't want to wait, choose a place that takes reservations. We only had to wait 20 minutes.

Still think a gay man won't happen. Heck, there are still laws being passed restricting gay rights. Legislation was just recently introduced in my state, which will probably pass, that allows businesses to legally discriminate against gay people is it's against their religion. It also would not allow a business to fire someone if they refuse service to someone because they are gay. So if you own a restaurant, and one of your waiters refuses to serve a gay couple, he's allowed to do it, and you're not allowed to fire him. I don't see any legislation about not serving black people being introduced.

There are six couples that go out to eat and just hang out regularly. There's one woman who's an airhead and has to be told time and time again how to play a game that we all play at least once a week. I have laughed at stupid jokes, explained the game twenty times, given directions to the restaurant we've been two a dozen times, and just tried to be a friend to everyone. Tonight I found out that the airhead invited the other four couples out to dinner and back to their house to play cards. I realize that we don't all have to get together at the same time, and there have been times when two or three couples got together instead of all of us. But for some reason I'm a little hurt to be left out tonight. PLEASE refrain from the hateful comments! Thanks

At the expense of sounding like a shitty friend, I need to get something off of my chest. My friend and I both curse like sailors. I curse almost as much as I breathe, but I know when it's appropriate to not do it, especially in certain situations. My friend curses everywhere and its pretty embarrassing, to the point that sometimes I dread hanging out with her. One time we went to a kid's birthday party and everything was 'f this' and 'I don't give a f!'. Or we'll be in a family restaurant in front of a family and she'll talk about things like 'good d' and 'he's not going to f me until he does so and so for me'. She's loud too, and people always turn to look. I don't know how to deal with it so now I just kind of avoid hanging out with her. If I talk to her about it, she'll get too defensive, so I don't bother.

To the OP who said she wished her son would kill himself--don't be so hard on yourself. My mom was in a very similar place with my brother. He was 22 and still living at home--he never went to college and didn't want to get a job. He eventually got a part time job and blew his paycheck on weed and guitar stuff. He ate all their food and didn't contribute at all. My mom had enough and kicked him out. Best thing she ever did for him--he was forced to get an apartment with some roommates, get a job, eventually went back to community college for his business associate degree, and became a chef who is now looking to start his own restaurant. If your kid is out of high school...I'd consider it time to make some tough decisions about him, OP.

Speaking of grubby hands, while at Disneyland my child and I were taking a break on a bench. We watched a boy about age 7 or 8 at a restaurant dig in his ass crack all the way in his underwear and scrub up and down for a good 30 seconds. He took his hands out, went to the table, and took some food, dropped it back on the table, and went back to digging in his ass crack. He then turned around, ran his hands under the water fountain (outdoor patio of restaurant) and went back to the table. When that family gets sick from his ass crack digging, they’re probably going to blame Disneyland. Um no maybe NOTICE that your child is giving the entire table fucking pinworm pinkeye or something worse!? My child watched the entire thing witth me and I told her that is why we wash hands obsessively while at Disneyland and wash soft toys before taking anywhere near her bed.

DH invited DSD (who hasn't spoken to me since July because I went ballistic when she failed to repay a loan again) and her family to dinner tomorrow before we leave for Florida. He made it at a restaurant to make it easier for me, but I'm really not looking forward to it. Wish me luck!!

I'll wade into the age discussion, only to say that, when it comes to getting carded, it depends on the store's/restaurant's policy. My 72 year old dad gets carded regularly, only because the employee doesn't want to get fired. Also, if they are being watched via security camera, where they can't really see how old you are, the clerk could get in trouble for not carding someone who appears to be under 65. There's a guy at the liquor store near my house, who only cards me, but not my husband, because, according him, I'm so short, on camera it looks like he's selling to a child. Sure, he's said that I look young, but at the end of the day, it's about keeping his job, not stroking my ego. *ducks and runs for cover*

This reminds me of the time I was online dating (a long time ago!) A cute younger guy hit me up. I expressed concerns at the age difference - I was 36 at the time, and he was 28. I was a single mom then and not interested in a playmate. He gave me the "age is just a number" spiel and asked me to give him a chance. He had other great attributes so I agreed to meet him for lunch. Turns out he was standing right in front of the restaurant but I'd walked right past him. Because he didn't look like his picture. Because he wasn't 28, he was 35. He'd had plenty of opportunities to tell me his real age! He went batshit crazy when I told him I wasn't interested in seeing him again because of the deception.
