God I am glad I didn't grow up in the era of cell phones, texting, Facebook, you tube, etc. I would have hated it! I liked the beauty of acting silly and not being caught on tape, as well as "stalking" my boyfriend by driving by his house late at night, or waiting at home for someone to call. Now everyone has to be instantly connected.

I'd been friends with this girl for about six months when she moved 1500 miles away. We've kept in touch via phone calls, texts, and Facebook. We've really been there for each other during tough times, to offer advice or just listen, and I consider her a good friend. Since she left, she's been back three times, and stays with family or closer friends, about an hour away from me. I haven't seen her one time during these visits, as she's so busy with others. In August, she posted on Facebook that she was coming back mid-October, and told everyone to tell her when they wanted to see her so she could be sure to see everyone. I was one of the first to answer, and locked in a day where my husband would be free to stay home with the kids. She and I planned what we were going to do that day. I called her a couple days after she arrived, and she was telling me everything she was planning...well, she made other plans for the day that we did. I couldn't believe it. She then asked if there was any other time that I was free. Well, no. Dh works out of town during the week, which she knows, and there's no one to watch the kids, especially on a school night, as we have no family here. She always makes a big deal about how excited she is to get together, and it never happens. I'm hurt.

I'm on a local Facebook group where people can advice, support and help. Today I drove to a lady's house to pick her up and take her to my house so she could do some laundry. I know it seemed sketchy to do something like that for someone you don't know but she turned out to be ok and was really appreciative for the help. One person flaked out on her, said she was going to pick her up and never showed up and the girl was waiting for her with her laundry for a couple hours. She was so appreciative of my help. It felt good to help someone who really needed it.

My sister is graduating this year and my family is already planning a graduation party, buying her class ring, getting her portrait done, etc. I am glad for her but I am not footing any of the bills. Sorry, my mom and her father should be the one paying for it. Calling me up and trying to give me a guilt trip me with the message that "I was never there for her". I got kicked out when I was 18 because I was sick of my paycheck being used to support the household while her husband didn't bother looking for a job and mom put the bills in my name without my consent. I moved in with my dad, did the college thing and got married, moving states away from everyone. I have tried to be a part of my sister's life but most of the efforts are one-sided and so I decided to let her do her thing and if she wants to call, fine. Now my mom and her husband are trying to hit me up for $500 that I cannot afford to buy my sister's class ring. Nope. They can paint me in a bad light, I don't care. They complain about selfish family members on facebook, I unfriended them. I am not going to fund the family anymore.

I am having facebook friend remorse. Met a mom, thought she was nice. She found me on FB and I accepted her request. Such a mistake. She WAY over shares. And if she isn't over sharing, she is complaining. And the more I see her at school pick ups, etc. the more I dislike her. She is very negative and complains non-stop. I just want to say if you are so miserable, change something.

My MIL who favors her DD & her children over ours, lives locally never contacts us. Never shows up to things for my kids when invited. She never gets on Facebook, so for the first time in a year she posts a meme about how parents grow old go visit them, take your grandkids to see them, etc. with a status that says "Just a thought." I laughed so hard. If she's trying to guilt us it won't work,we give her plenty of chances and she blows us off every time.

Ok, what do you think? I was traveling last week in a town where my crush used to live. I posted a photo on Facebook, and he liked it, but he didn't start a conversation about it by text or email. In my opinion, if he was also interested in me, that would have been the perfect opportunity to talk to me. Is it overreacting to think this suggests he's not interested?

A friend convinced me to post my birthday on Facebook after all. She also bet me real money that at least one of my colleagues would want to take me for a drink. She said I was sabotaging myself and closing myself off from people, so I did it. It's out there. We'll see what happens. I don't feel entirely comfortable about this though.

Aaahhhh. I'm so irritated right now. Dh and I had a small going away party since we are leaving the state this Thursday. I specifically told the friend who likes to overstay her welcome that she (and her toddler and boyfriend) cannot stay the night. The party will be ending by 9:30 because I have to work tomorrow. I made a point to dh that I did not want ANYONE spending the night. This apartment is my "space" and I will be losing it soon to live with his parents for the next month before we can start looking for a place of our own. She got so shitfaced. Tried to start drama with the brother of someone she dated idk what, something about the guy she dated, and then his wife about something Facebook related. Then broke down crying, begging me not to go, to have me take her and her kid with her. I do love her and will miss her but she is a small doses kind of person. She then threw up on me, herself, all over my bathroom, and in my tub/shower. I spent 2 hours trying to get her cleaned up and out of the bathroom only to have her try to make out with me, grab my boobs until they hurt, and try to get me to sleep on my couch with her, her boyfriend and her kid. As soon as she was out if the bathroom my husband went in there to sleep on the floor. He was perfectly fine the entire time she was in there. All I want to do is use the bathroom in peace (I have a condition that causes me to need to go regularly during the day and night) and now I have him passed out on the floor muttering something every time I'm in there. This was supposed to be a fun night and it has turned to shit. I don't think I will ever agree to throw any sort of party in my home again. It always ends with me being irritated and inconvenienced.

There was some article recently about how only old people are using Facebook now and the teens are all going elsewhere. So apparently Facebook is no longer 'cool'. Seriously, if adults need to measure their own 'coolness' by what teenagers are doing, it's pretty sad. Teens will always want to do the opposite of what their parents are doing, that's a given. Secondly, most teens don't have an iota of a clue of what real life is about, so stop trying to measure your cool factor by how closely you ape your own kids' behaviors.
