They obsess over 20 week abortions because the reality of your usual pre-12 week medical and surgical abortions are not harrowing or bloody enough to upset most people to the point of turning pro-life. I'm living in Dublin, Ireland right now and there was a mass protest on the streets the other day about the abortion laws. There are people dying or going to jail over it in South America. I just cannot understand why people want to go back in time.

I work for county government and they picked me to work at the emergency operation center in case of a hurricane. Irma may be coming. My sisters and I just had a talk this weekend about my elderly dad. He's starting to forget and having small accidents. I have to stay with him if he decides to stay, he says he doesn't want to leave because of his dog. I'm really nervous about not going to the EOC but I can't leave him alone. One sister is securing her Keys house than taking her really senile mil to her house. Another isn't sure what she's doing but she already does so much for my dad. Another is kinda flaky. They all live in South Dade county, we all went through Andrew so we know what can happen. I already took Thursday and Friday off because it is my birthday so I am thinking I can just say I already planned to go out of town. My dad's house is really secure with good shutters but I can't leave him by himself.

Robert E. Lee was once asked what he thought about erecting confederate monuments. He said it would be very bad for the south. Many of those statues and monuments were put up during the Jim Crow era, when people were specifically trying to harm black people. They need taken down. Put them in museums, or whatever, but they should be removed.

One of my old neighbors had a pickup truck with a confederate flag paint job with the words Runnin' Scared painted along the tailgate. Lovely, huh? I think a lot of people assume that most of that crap stays in the south, but here in Indiana, it's all over the place. I don't live in a tiny hillbilly, farm town, either. I wasn't surprised at all when Trump got elected. The generational racism here in the flyover states has always been alive and well. It just went unnoticed until Trump gave the bigots a voice.

Can I just seriously ask why some people in the northern part of the USA fly confederate flags? I understand for the South, it represents a piece of their heritage (for SOME) but I see some people flying them off their pickup trucks up here in my area and I'm pretty far North...so what's the deal? I don't believe all these confederate flag flyers came from the South originally. So there's an association they have and I'd like to know what it is. Does it usually represent white supremacist views? Is there some other reason?

Never been called beige either. My 2nd husband used to call me La Rubia, though, lol. Maybe because I live in an area with people from all over but a Cuban speaks so much differently than someone from Mexico and they speak so differently from a Colombian and never mind someone from Spain, whole different way of speaking and pronouncing words. Because of where I live I speak Cuban Spanish, when I start a conversation in Spanish with someone I am usually asked if I'm Cuban. I guess it's like having a Southern or New York accent. I always speak formally and avoid slang because different words in Spanish mean different things in different countries.

My family is originally from South America and I've been referred to as "Mexican" more times than I can count. I'm not "Mexican". I don't really take offense to it but I find it odd that that's the default assumption.

Ignoring the KKK neutralized them before. You hardly heard anything about them for years until the mainstream fake news latched onto them. In my southern town, they were not given anything to feed on. They were considered trash. Now they're regarded as major players and pundits. Who is funding them? Ask!

Basically ya'all are advocating genocide. However you try and paint it otherwise. Not to mention, it's so easy to sit in the US and scream about nuking NK, because deep down you know you're safe. If NK reacts it will be tiny South pacific islands, South Korea and maybe even Japan that bear the brunt of this. You can just sit on your ass and yell about killing the yellow folks while you happily go about your day. So nice to know nothing has changed since Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Are we supposed to think of Fat as synonym of Stupid? NO?! Great. Hopefully we can stop thinking of Southern Accent as synonym of Stupid too.
