My aunt "procreates as she desires" and now she has 11 kids and an adopted grandchild that she and my uncle are taking care of. If you think that you can be a decent parent when you have that many kids, you're wrong. My aunt tries, but she's more like a schoolteacher than a mom when there are that many kids around. She also didn't bother teaching my cousins about BC and so her oldest DD got pregnant and couldn't afford to raise the baby, so my aunt and uncle adopted her. My aunt is still planning on having more. They get financial assistance to raise the kids because my aunt doesn't work and my uncle's job only brings in so much money. I honestly don't understand the mentality that you can have a family as big as you want it even if you're not the one paying for it.

The 'procreate as she desires' wack job sounds like my second cousin. She was 17 when she got knocked up by then- boyfriend du jour. Had baby, lived at home with her mom and dad and talked a good game about finishing school. Got knocked up at 20 by a bus boy at a restaurant she worked out. Kept that baby. Still living at home with mom and dad who paid for most everything. Got knocked up at 22 and 24 by current boyfriend.....who drifts from job to job, says he'll marry her but who knows when....they now live with HIS parents who are poor themselves. His parents are on disability and he sponges and mooches off them when he has no work. She's not working at all now, she's a "full time mommy" who never finished her education and has never kept a job over a year. The kids always look raggedy and out of control. Do I judge? Hell yeah I do. Great way to introduce children into the world, welcome to poverty kids. But she's planning on having more kids because she (her words) "love babies so mu

Procreate as YOU desire? How about thinking about the child and what's best for them? Damn you sound immature and selfish.

If you can provide for ten kids, have them. If you cannot, you don't really have the "right" to have ten kids. Sure, you'll probably qualify for some kind of services if you're very poor but those kids are starting out at a severe disadvantage. Look at Octomom....do you think those kids are getting the best parenting? The best care? Did she really have the "right" to procreate "as she desired"? How do you stand by your post? It really baffles me. You ARE wacky.

My friend's niece married and procreated as they desired. They now have 9 talented kids who don't have enough to eat. Some have behavior problems. Live in a 5 room house. Don't have enough money for music lessons. No insurance. Never have a babysitter and don't live near family to look after them. He's sporadically employed as an intinerant preacher. She has a physics degree but can't work because "I'm so sick when I'm pregnant and who'd look after the kids." Lives into the generations are going to be affected by the mental issues that this is bringing about in each kid. Yeah, procreate as you wish. That doesn't make you a real parent.

Re "procreate as she desires" "it's my body and my life" are you serious? Are those 17 new "bodies" that you are sooo entitled to creating going to feed and cloth themselves? Are you going to be able to nurture and parent 17 new people as they deserve?? Jesus people are up in arms about overpopulation a of pets (rightly so) and you think you can breed into existence as many people as you want because it's your body and your life? That is about the dumbest most selfish entitlement minded thing I have ever heard. Not even going to try and sugar coat this one.

Yes. Procreate as she desires. We can do what we want as humans. If I want to have 17 children, why can't I? I do what I want with my body and life.

'Procreate as she desires'? I'm sorry but that one just left me with my mouth hanging open. You can't be serious.

I feel for the OP that is expecting in May and having difficulty with keeping her job, it shouldn't have to be a choice of one or the other or having to be dependent on someone, but unfortunately many people find themselves in that position. I hope you find a solution that works for you so you can stop feeling stressed. The OP who thinks women should be able to "procreate as they desire without any obstacles". I hope you didn't mean that literally. People should be able to have a life with children, but not expecting he rest of the world to pay for it. Better unemployment benefits and program would be great, but people should be responsible with their procreation as well.

I think it's bullshit a pregnant woman has to worry about a job versus motherhood. She should be able to procreate as she desires without any obstacles such as (paid) maternity leave and/or childcare and money! But yet, women like to vote against this kind of stuff. These type of laws help so much. Especially for that woman who is the breadwinner of the family, or just feels as though she can't or won't depend on her spouse financially (for whatever reason).
