This is so irritating. They redid the kitchen at work. Now the large, 55-gal trash can is in a compartment behind two doors with a slot, kind of like what they have at fast food places. There were no recycling cans until a couple of us raised a stink, so they finally got one. It's the size of a small wastebasket, sitting next to the compartment, but it's a bonafide recycling can, blue with the symbol. Idiots were still throwing regular trash in it. So one day I made a big sign, with TRASH and RECYCLING in huge letters and with big arrows, highlighted in orange, pointing to the respective cans. And every day, every single time I go into the kitchen, I have to pick trash out of the recycling can and throw it away. WTF!!!

you two were far too nice. i had a college roommate who had her own (expensive) set of dishes and pots. when she let them pile up in the kitchen and not wash them for weeks on end i simply put them all in a big bag and threw them out in the trash. no arguing or nagging on my part. she moved out shortly after.

My roommate never cleans the kitchen. I'm always the one keeping it clean and tidying up. As of today I am done. She does the dishes maybe about 35% of the time, but all she does is throw them in the dishwasher, never doing a complete job like wiping down the counters or sweeping. Whenever I ask her to wash dishes, she gets a serious attitude problem. Instead of getting angry, I've decided that I'm only ever going to wash my own dishes and clean my own messes. This means that she'll start to see when her junk piles up. I'm just going to let it sit there and get foul. If guests come over and see it or smell it, so what? If you don't care, I don't care.

We probably have the smallest and oldest house among all our friends. Our bathrooms are "vintage" and quirky, our living room is just big enough for our sectional and a TV, there's no family room or big finished basement. Our kitchen still has these old cabinets from the 70's and a plain white fridge. No stainless steel, no marble countertops. But it's all paid for. We're in our 40's and have no mortgage and it's the best, most freeing feeling!!! I wouldn't want a ginormous home with all the updates if it means paying a mortgage for another 20 years. We'd prefer to save for an early retirement and do lots of travelling.

We have a five bedroom house and two adults kids who have moved out and gotten their own places. We also talk about getting a smaller condo or cottage situation, but I agree...extra space can be really nice. DH has a music room and I have an exercise room. When people come over there's plenty of room for them to stay. We like our garden and the kitchen is a good size for making preserves and other projects. I dunno, maybe we'll just keep put.

I don't have a lot of friends and I start questioning myself and thinking I am the problem. I then have friends over with their children and I realize that it is other people. They came over to have lunch and visit for a while. As soon as they got here one child kept going into the fridge and taking food out without asking. While I was cooking they both kept whining they wanted to eat and requesting all kinds of things. I told them no and I was making lunch. They then went and got their mom and she came in and got them food. Lunch time came and they didn't want what i was making which I made sure prior to them coming over if it was something they would eat because they are very picky eaters. Mom, said yes they would but then they refused to eat my food and mom kept asking if they could have other things. During me setting out the food on the kitchen Island they kept coming up and touching the food. They also kept going through cabinets and dressers. So frustrating.

When DS was a baby learning to escape his crib and stuff, I used to describe his moves as 'Navy Seal' and make the hand gestures like hanging from something (his crib railing) and dropping down like a Navy Seal. And true story- first time he did that, he went right out the door to the neighbor's house. I left the kitchen door open and was hanging laundry out, he snuck right past me. He knew there were cookies over there, I guess. But I digress. Anyway, yesterday, he was describing DGD's antics.. he made the same hand gestures that I used to do, only he described the moves as 'Assassin's Creed'. *giggle* You know, this getting older business isn't so bad. Lots of good stuff comes with it. :D

I thought our washer & dryer were possessed or something when we first moved into our new house. They would start and stop on their own randomly. It was so crazy DH and I couldn't figure out what the hell was happening. Then one day I was in the kitchen and heard the washer start, so I ran to the pantry/laundry room to see what was going on. That's the day I learned that our cat is heavy enough to activate the buttons with her paws. Little fatty. LOL. Now I make sure to actually power them down when not in use. (Yes- they power down. They're super fancy and I love them) Still sometimes I'll go check the laundry and find the cat turned the washer off with her feet before the load was done.

Yesterday DH said he would make dinner. He caught some fish and wanted to cook them. Cool, right? Except when I got home from work, his buddy was over and they decided to go fishing again. I was like, "what about dinner?" and he said he'd make it when they got back. I was annoyed AF because he knows I like to eat soon after I get home- I don't get a chance to eat much during the day and I come home hungry- always. Well he didn't get home until after 7pm, by then I'd already eaten a bunch of snacks. Then he made dinner, and a big mess in the kitchen for me to clean up... at 9pm. I'm usually in bed by 9pm. It was just difficult to not rip him a new one. I was so fucking annoyed. But- the fish was amazing. Caught, cleaned, and eaten in the same day. It would have tasted a lot better at 6pm- when we normally eat dinner, though.

Also, after my grandpa died, he started puling pranks, like dropping coins on me. One time, dh and I were fixing our kitchen cabinets and our hammer suddenly went missing. It just disappeared. Heard a noise in the bedroom and found it on the bed. For about a week after that, we kept finding nails and screws in the bed. I swear, I heard my grandpa laughing.
