Logically, I know this. But Covid has opened up an entire germophobic part of me that I had no idea existed and I am mentally not ok when we have to leave the house. It takes a Herculean effort not to lose my shit every time we have to use a grocery cart or when I think about how many people are involved in the packaging food to putting it on the shelf process. I'm ridiculous, and I know that, but I can't seem to stop it.

I totally agree with you, OP. Getting older is no excuse to get fat. Does he have any underlying mental illness? I know that can be a factor too. But it's awfully selfish of him to expect you to go the rest of your life without ever having sex again.

I do think it's similar, and this is coming from someone who has been to in-patient eating disorder treatment, more than once. The mental aspects of compulsively overeating are not that much different than compulsive under eating. But the way they are perceived is vastly different. People see someone starving themselves to death, and they accept that it is a mental illness and they need treatment and help. Very few people will just say to eat a sandwich. But people see someone eating themselves to death, and they tell them they are just weak and need to eat a salad.

Things being fundamentally unequal suits them well, if they turn Blacks and whites against each other, then we're not focused on them as they ruin the planet, further erode social safety nets, housing, pay, workplace protection. Trying to find a mental health provider for my ADHD daughter who is struggling right now with the whole virtual learning thing. In my city of over a million people, there are a whopping 12 providers who take our insurance. Of those 12 providers, there are exactly ZERO who are taking new patients. Tell me again why the US healthcare system is better than universal healthcare?

All day long, patients bitch at me because our office currently has a no visitor policy. Unless the patient has some sort of documented reason (has a legal POA, dementia/Altzheimers, mentally disabled, etc), they must be by themselves during their appointment due to covid. We've gotten creative with FaceTime and speakerphone. We don't like it anymore than they do. I'm just so tired of being bitched out because "my husband has NEVER been to an appointment by himself!" Well, if the moron Trump voters would wear a mask, stay home, and get vaccinated our state wouldn't be in the red. Until then, we will protect our doctors, staff, and other patients.

OMFG. I live in the UK and the govt just floated the idea of a £500 payment to help people with covid self isolate. The right wingers are freaking out and complaining they're paying people to get sick. Actually, what is happening is that doctors are being told en masse when they give people positive results, that these people cannot afford to self isolate. No shit. But no, it's socialist and people are going to start running around trying to catch it. We seem to have wholesale imported the Bootstrap Mentality from the US over the last few years and it makes me truly sick. Im so afraid I'm ruining my 4yo's life with this stupid pandemic. He has only had 7 months of his whole life with other kids his age. I thought this would be over by now and I would be comfortable sending him back to school or doing regular playdates with someone, but nobody here follows guidelines or they lie about following them. He only has my 11yo, who is an ass to him most of the time bc he has tween attitude issues. I want to cry. Health and safety or mental health and social development and possibly die from covid long term effects of covid.

I remember her being a sweet kid that loved to sing, read, and hike. She had a beautiful angelic voice. She would have graduated from HS last year. Too frickin' young. I need to keep chipping away at my mental health because nothing is guaranteed.

Also, just to defend myself further, I already said I'm not defending these people. I'm glad people's Parler posts are getting them investigated by the FBI. I'm glad people who attacked the Capitol will face stiff charges and lengthy prison sentences. People who are already down that road need to be punished for crimes they commit. Racism, sexism, any kind of ism should not be tolerated, and as a member of a group these people want to exterminate, I feel that more than most. Their children however, are not evil because they were born to parents who have been brainwashed. Lonely people with mental health issues being left by society are not inherently evil, they are vulnerable. If you don't think about the *causes* behind why these things happen, well, then that old adage about history repeating itself rings true. And you're really not much better than the other side, TBH.
