Because we are raising a generation of people who all think they are special snowflakes, the rules do not apply to them, and nothing is their fault. Parents are afraid to discipline their kids because the kids will threaten to call the police and have the parents arrested.. And if you are offended by the word "snowflake", you probably are one!!

OP here about my ex making false CPS reports. No, going to the police is useless and I found out firsthand how useless they were when earlier this summer he called the police on me when i was suppose to pick up the kids, he lied to the police and told them I told ds9 that I wanted to kill ds10 and got my ds9 to lie and tell the police that I said this to him. I found out later he had physically threatened bodily harm on the kids, that only came out just recently, which is why they're in counseling. The cop told me he sees this all the time and this is nothing new to him. I was so scared, I really thought the cop was going to arrest me or call CPS right then and there and not allow me to get the kids. I did tell the cop that my ex had a gun, concealed weapons permit and he seemed not too worried about my safety after I told him everything.

This is what I’m scared of when I say I don’t want a diagnosis on my record. It’s one thing to have doctors/nurses who are taking care of me know my psych diagnoses. But like, what about police or insurers, or if I want to adopt a child or something. What if I have to undergo a health physical for a job and it comes out? I don’t want to be labeled and judged cause god knows this country does not have an OUNCE of understanding for mentally ill people.

If you are in denial that police brutality exists, you aren't as American as you think you are. Fuck standing for an anthem, stand up to racism and police over reach, that's American!!

I've worked with abused women. Unfortunately, most police departments won't do jack for a potential domestic abuse victim. She can call and tell them she fears for her safety, but until he threatens her with physical harm, or actually attacks her, they won't do anything. If he does do those things, she'll then have to go to great lengths to prove it. And then, for many victims, once they do get attacked, they get shamed for not looking out for themselves. "Well, you knew he was scary. Why didn't you get a gun? Carry mace? Get a restraining order?" It's absolutely fucking infuriating.

Can you go to your local police department and ask to make a report? In the event that something happens, they'll know what to do. I, so sorry you're living in fear, OP!

A woman I work with told me that her nephew was in juvenile hall for five days for assaulting his girlfriend. They came home after curfew and the police were at her house. She told her parents he raped her. I tend to believe girls when they report an assault, but there was no trial. The police came to his house, told his mother they were doing a "wellness check" and hauled him off. They never even gave her any paper work and didn't tell her when he would be released. Turns out the girl's parents are rich and know the chief of police. The girl is white and the young man is black. His mother should sue, but they are all just trying to recover. Her son left his high school and is afraid to go back. He is a senior and finishing high school at a continuation school. It is no wonder that some people don't trust the police.

I was on a jury this week for the first time. It was an assault case. The defendant was a young black male. There was not a single, solitary person of color on the jury. Not one. Most were a bunch of old people who can afford to sit in a court room all day, every day. My point is, this was NOT a jury of his peers. Ultimately, a settlement was reached, so the jury didn't have to make a decision. But from the talks we did have, I can tell you that at least half of those folks were ready to convict him as soon as they saw him. The justice system in this country is so f*ed up. I brought this up with my brother, who is a lawyer, and he said that's the only people who show up for jury duty - old white people. Everyone else is working, has no way to get to court (which can be far), or are afraid of police/courts - sometimes rightfully so.

I'm going on a two week trip with DH. I've never been away from home (or work) this long before, and I'm really nervous about it. DD19 is going to be home alone the whole time. Our next door neighbor is a police officer, and he's going to help keep an eye on her and the house. Plus DS23 lives nearby if she needs anything. Plus, her boyfriend is around. I know she'll be fine. My problem is I feel like I miss her already, and DS23, and DGD, and my dogs, and my house.... ...

Fuck. I got a conditional job offer pending a background check (police communication). I answered honestly (light marijuana use- literally a handful of times in the last 10 years) and submitted it. Got the mail today and find out I failed and am no longer eligible for hire. Fuck. I was counting on that because my life is in shambles. I am so fucking depressed now. I've been a ball of stress for weeks now and it just turned into absolute despair. I am stuck. My current job does not pay a livable wage and this one is the first one I even got an in person interview for. I'm going to call to see if I'll be eligible in the future next week but fuck. I feel so hopeless now. Oh and today is the anniversary of my grandmother's death. And I have no beer or ice cream. FUCK.
