The one major thing that bugs me about religious stuff on social media is when people brag about how much they donate or give to charity. I was raised that when you give, you give in secret. Not as a reason to boast about what a good Christian you are. It's such grotesque attention whoring. Of course, I never say anything, but internally I'm the living embodiment of the Arthur's fist meme.

My MIL posts all these horrible anti-immigration, anti-welfare, pro-life, etc. things on FB and I get a big kick out of sharing Christians Tired of Being Misrepresented's memes on her wall. You know, the memes about acting like Jesus and not being a stuckup judgy jerkface to the rest of the world.

There's a "Christian Conservatives" page on Facebook that is satire. Everything is shrill, over-the-top, poorly spelled and ridiculous. Yet you can tell there are some who think it's real and agree with everything on there.

When your supposedly Christian spouse routinely makes the kids cry, and treats church as optional...sigh.

I find evangelical Christians some of the most bigoted people on the planet.

When I first heard about Trump running, I was excited for this very reason. He was always outspokenly pro-choice and was buddies with the Clintons. He wasn't the right wing, pro-Christian, anti-Muslim, pro-birth, bible thumper he claims to be now. I'm not saying he was a liberal saint or anything, but it's amazing how he did a 180 when he wanted votes.

You should call him up for a date. I'm sure he'd be very interested in your lady parts. Like most old, white, Christian politicians, he's obsessed with what goes on down there. Just ask the women of Indiana. We had to fight him off (and we won).

Words I am sick of hearing and reading: ethnocentric, racist, racism, hatred, rights, protest, Christian, Muslim, fuck and shit. Words I like reading and hearing - radical Islamic terrorist(m).

I've traveled a lot, hosted exchange scholars in my home for years, seen and experienced cultures all over the world. I know Muslims, Buddhists and Christians, some of them well. I am not afraid of them. I have respect for their cultures, though I don't want to adopt any of those cultures. I don't want to ban Muslims. Neither does Trump. The order states that he is temporarily banning ALL people from 7 countries. That means Christians and other religions as well as Muslims. ALL PEOPLE FROM THOSE COUNTRIES. The evil news media are trying to brainwash us, can't you understand that? Don't fall for it.

I don't think a lot of people realize just how xenophobic a lot of Americans are. My FIL is a prime example. He is a really nice person. But he has never traveled outside his tiny rural hometown. He doesn't know anyone who isn't a white Lutheran. He has probably seen a few people of color at the grocery store and such, but he is terrified of anyone who isn't white and Christian. He probably wouldn't be openly hateful of anyone, but he is all for a ban on Muslims. Because, in his view, anyone who doesn't believe in God is a horrible person. There is a lot more ignorance out there than people probably realize.
