Omg, the Trump supporters who think we're going to bomb NK are killing my brain cells on the daily. Unless China supports us 100%, we. are. not. bombing. NK. EVER. I mean, we can but, Jesus... we would be fucked. And the ones who think we can simply nuke NK without hurting China, South Korea, or Japan are a special kind of stupid. Then again, they did vote for the Cheeto, so I don't know why I expect even a semblance of intelligence.

I remember reading a theory that "A Song of Ice and Fire"/ "Game of Thrones" is really about two things..., and the threat of climate change. The White Walkers reflect the climate change, slowly sneaking up on the population. Everybody either denies it's existence or isn't paying enough attention to the threat, save for a few people who everyone considers a wee bit crazy. While everyone down south is fighting over power, resources, land and religion, the secret flood comes from the North preparing to destroy us all. I would say that's pretty fuckin' accurate. Good to know we'll all be fighting our stupid wars knee to neck deep in water soon. Or underwater if you live in the Maldives.

I went down to South Beach today to have lunch with my sister. We have always been very close but had a bad, very painful falling out a few years ago. We're mending our relationship, slowly but it is happening. She's my big sister and she did some really fucked up things but she was on Xanax then and now she's not. We're a big, close family that moves on and forgives when someone fucks up. I've missed her and am glad we're seeing and talking. Plus it was great to be back there, lived there for about 10 years, awhile ago but love that place still.

Democrats spent $42,000,000 to win the special House election in Georgia. Republican Karen Handel won. Ralph Norman, Republican, won the special House election in South Carolina. Get it, Dems? The revolution is happening and it's not you. Crawl away in shame with Obama.

The magazine where I worked was a sponsor of the Miss Universe pageant, this was in South Beach, Florida, in the nineties. We had a kick-off party at the publisher's mansion. All the contestants were there in bathing suits and were avoiding Cheeto like the plague, to the point we all noticed and talked. He kept trying to hug them. I didn't speak with him because I didn't have to, but he was sweaty in the South Florida night, poorly dressed, really bad shoes. He threw a used toothpick in my bosses' pool. He also wanted us to put Melanoma on the cover but my editor 69d that idea tout suite. Not because she wasn't attractive, my editor thought her husband was too down-market and would hurt our brand. She was not wrong.

I was out doing some hiking in the woods south of where I usually hike. They have Lone Star ticks in that forest and one of them bit me. Then I found out that they transmit a disease called alpha-gal. It makes you allergic to all mammalian meat forever. No more beef or pork or goat or lamb! They say it's really rare to get it after being bit, but one of our hiking guides has it because she was bitten by one of those ticks. Now I am paranoid and I'm not sure I want to see if I can eat bacon and beef anymore or not.

Growing up I was so jealous of my friends who had quinces. I'm Anglo so I got invited and danced in a bunch but I'm from a Southern Methodist family so no quince for me. But my stepmom was Cuban so her daughter had one and it was so much fun. One of my friends had drug dealer parents who had to burn/launder their $ and her quince was an epic, three-day event complete with a gift wrapped Porsche. Love quinces, maybe I'll do one for my fiftieth birthday, lol

Poobutter, he's kind of "countrified" me (taught me how to use all the lawn things and tools, plant a vegetable garden and work on cars, can you believe it?) and I've kind of "citified" him (fine dining, museums and the ballet/opera). We live in the country, in a log cabin on over an acre with only three neighbors, but less than half an hour from the city, so we make frequent trips there. (I LOVE our house!) In the beginning there were disagreements over food - he's meat & potatoes, and I'm healthy and quirky. He realized that he feels better when he eats my way, but we still have his faves once in a while. Sometimes we don't understand each other because certain things have different meanings where we're each from. And those Southern sayings, what the heck??? Love conquers all :)

RE Current Short-Fingered Vulgarian White House Situation: Chance of restoring democracy is getting better all the time. Just hope they all go down, Princess Ivanka, her hubby, Brannon, Pence...it may take awhile but, to quote the Geico commercial, 'It's happening, sweetheart." They're not only criminals, they're tacky and crass and rude. As a born southerner I give no thumbs up and a thousand bless your hearts.
