Did they ask you to sit in the waiting room? My mom did this after I told her we would let them know, go home and wait. We had a sign on the door that only nurses were allowed once my labor started. I did not want anyone seeing me in that vulnerable state. And later my mom & stepdad tried to just walk in at the same time I stood up to use the restroom for the first time since birth and blood gushed every where. Dh caught them at the door and told them to leave or wait until we invite them/tell people we were ready. They were so mad-but seriously? I don't care. This was my baby and my experience with my spouse. It's not about anyone else.

That's crazy. I would go so far as to get a note from a doctor that you need masks and gloves. I'm a nurse and we've seen a huge jump in flu cases this year. You have to protect yourself.

Since this is one particular "psychic" who is telling her this stuff, can you report them to the BBB? If this were a shyster lawyer, doctor, nurse, financial advisor, etc, I would be dragging their name through the mud. I doubt you can do much for sister, other than encourage her to see a therapist, but I would report that so-called psychic. The way you describe your sister makes her seem mentally fragile, and what that psychic is doing is highly unethical. If it were my sis, I'd be using Craigslist, Yelp, BBB, Facebook, whatever platform I could find to drag that shyster's name.

My MIL was just telling me a story about how she had to go to work even though she knew she was coming down with the stomach flu that was going around the hospital. A drunk girl she was taking care of threw up all over her and started her puking, which got the dr puking. And when mil was done they told her to use her lunch break to clean up and have one of the other nurses set her up with an iv so she could make it through the rest of her shift. Nurses deserve a medal.

I'd love to stay home when I get sick. But I'm a nurse. You get raked over hot coals if you're not able to come in for your shift. They don't care that you're sick.

Is there something about nurses and Vera Bradley purses? Most of them @ the hospital where I work (I'm not one) have them.

A client of mine has a bookkeeper that recently had a baby. They hired a temp to take care of the essentials while she was on leave. The baby is less than two weeks old and she's already back to work. Here's the truly awesome thing: the baby comes WITH her to work. She's got a pack & play set up in her office. She nurses the baby right at her desk. I went over there to help her clean up a few issues from the temp (and to see the baby). She said to me, "Do I have the best boss ever or what?" And she does. It's pretty heartwarming. *heart=warmed*

I left an alcoholic husband. It's rare that they get better. Even backsliding every couple of months is too much. Just kick him out. That way you're rid of the problem forever and don't have to nurse him through kidney and liver failure, stroke and heart issues (as I did). You are better off on your own than having YOUR life taken over by HIS avoidable illnesses. Don't think problem drinkers care about you. They only care about themselves.

I work at a major hospital and our parking lot is terrible. The nurses are the worst. They come speeding in (probably late) and will almost hit your car to get in a spot before you.
