Does anyone else find it odd that so many celebrities are now UN ambassadors or messengers or other titles like that? On the one hand it is great that famous people are making waves about human rights and environmentalism, I guess it just doesn't make the UN summits look very credible.

I just mentally got rid of someone who thinks that Christian Americans are being persecuted for their beliefs. They have no idea what persecution is, not that I do myself, but to claim you have hardships because you can't hold a public prayer in class that excludes or forcibly includes students of different faiths makes me think you are a raging IDIOT.

No it doesn't annoy me one bit today was my first day of work, I was on my feet the entire time trying to absorb everything being told to me while actually doing hands on work, I'm physically and mentally exhausted, and you want me to come BACK up there later today tondo my paperwork even though I will be there working tomorrow...and Thursday...and Friday.

I feel like I'm surrounded by goal oriented people. I like playing puzzle hunts and going for jogs, but anytime I have a friend do one of those with me, all they want to talk about if how fast we can finish, and what is the next level we can try to prove we are badass. I just want to enjoy the puzzle, or the scenery, or the feel of using my muscles (mentally or physically). Trying to be better than the last time (or other people) is just boring and annoying to me. Am I really that different than everyone else, or am I just hanging out with the wrong people?

I love how I read a sentimental bit about infatuation....then right after that a fart confession. Priceless!

All the people who have the "don't have kids you can't afford" mentality should see the movie Idiocracy. It's a comedy, and it's a farce, but I can totally see the logic behind the premise. And to be honest it's pretty damn scary. It's not just about a gap between rich and poor. The end result is a boom in the impoverished, uneducated population. (Hm, wonder if that's already happening?) I think fixing the education system is way more important than just about anything else.

Kids going to kindergarten is a big and important accomplishment for them! Think of everything a child has had to learn before age 6.... a fundamental grasp of language, the ability to walk, manual dexterity, some basic reasoning...it's HUGE. Kudos to all kids who get to go to kindergarten! The post about the ill child was extremely sad to me. I am so grateful to have healthy kids! And yay to dinosaur-boy mom, your kid rocks!

It's pretty hilarious how right wingnuts are all against a higher minimum wage, and yet don't realize that corporations pay such low wages because they're taking so much money in government subsidies; corporate tax breaks + their workers having the difference between their wages and a living wage made up for in foodstamps, medicare, etc. It's a fundamentally illogical position - if a business cannot pay a living wage without government subsidies, it deserves to go out of business and be replaced with a better business model. That's Capitalism 101.

I think fast food workers making $15/hr is stupid. Do they realize that the majority of people who work in hospitals (at least in my state) make $9-$12/hr? These are people who work in the pharmacy, aides on the floor, receptionists, schedulers, techs of all kinds, such as EKG and mental health techs. Hell, a mental health tech makes about $14/hr and the job requires a minimum of an associate's degree! But people who work drive-throughs want $15? GMAFB.

Not all children go to kindergarten. Some of would dearly love for our children to be able to go to kindgarten, nothing would make our hearts happier, but due to severe health and developmental delays they won't be going. Not anytime soon and perhaps never. To that rude person who posted that it's "not an accomplishment" to go to kindergarten, let me just correct you. It IS. Every child who can grow and achieve and learn and move forward IS accomplishing things every day. When I look at my child I know she won't accomplish things at the same rate, and some things will remain forever beyond her. I don't know who you are, but I can't imagine you have children and certainly not a seriously ill one. I hope you reflect seriously on your foolish words.
