It's called "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. It's on Amazon and there's a website where you can take the quiz to find yours.

99% of all people have a fat roll when they sit down. Even skinny and young ones. Who cares? I hope you are kidding about feeling attacked. It sounds like your dh was joking aroung anyway.

I finally realized that DH and I do not have the same love languages and talked to my therapist about it. She suggested he read the book and he actually did. He is starting to realize that acts of service and gifts are my languages while I am realizing that physical affection and quality time are his. It's definitely helping us connect more. I'd recommend reading the book; it's pretty interesting.

OMG. One day H came into the bathroom and remarked at all of the new face creams and gadgets I had. I said, "Well, I'm 50 now and I'm...concerned." in a joking tone. He said, "You're fighting a losing battle." What a shitty comment from a man who is older than me by only a month, but is consistently mistaken as my father when we're out.

I was sitting on the bed with my shirt lifted up so DH could put icy hot on my back. I looked down and noticed a fat roll while I was sitting there. I got upset and said When the hell did THIS happen? You know what that A-hole told me? He told me I'm pushing 50 and I should just give in to the fat roll. I feel attacked.

Good for you for following through and filing. I would think getting served with papers would be an eye opener. If not then he's truly delusional.

Boyfriend who is 54 years old has a job interview at a cryo place. He just got a dollar raise where he's at now. I'm skeptical and feeling insecure because it might mean he has to travel in the future. His friend who's in his 30's works there and loves it. I want my boyfriend to look at city, county and state jobs. He always said he wouldn't take a job where he has to work on the weekends or out of town. His current job is a 10 minute bike ride away from our home. He'd have to commute about 25 minutes to and from new job. It's just me and my insecurities I guess. We'll see what happens.

Update: it's been 6 weeks since the initial conversation. Since then, he's only made one tiny acknowledgement about it. He's still basically acting like things are totally normal. I'm tired of this. I filed yesterday. Maybe getting served will finally wake him up and see that I'm serious.

My husband is really just a walking paycheck at this point. He's not unpleasant or a bad guy, but he's just sort of there. He doesn't really contribute much else. He helps out around the house but isn't really engaged. He's basically just a good roommate. I stay because there is no way I could afford to live in this school district and give my kids the opportunities they have on just my salary or if we got divorced. But once the kids are out of school, I make no guarantees. It's a community property state, so I may just take my 1/2 of everything and move on.
