When i say i don't want to live through anymore historical events, i fucking mean it. I don't want uprisings, looting, protesting, i don't want it. I want my kids to grow up safe. I want everyone to treat everyone equally. I don't know if i should ignore all this shit or try to get passports and go somewhere we still won't be welcome because we're American. I don't want any of this. I'm tired of being terrified at every election. I'm tired of pandemics and political shit. I don't want anymore of it.

I tell you what- they better be holding the inauguration over Zoom from a secret location, and surrounding every state capitol with national guard. They better screen all of them too, because I don't trust them. This isn't over. Not by a mile.

I don't know who is being self-righteous or who is being triggered. I honestly am confused. Hope you're not talking about me. I'll just be over here working, because I tend to be pragmatic. Not interested in further convo on this. I usually tune out as soon as someone starts talking about spirituality. Nothing personal.

Also, just to defend myself further, I already said I'm not defending these people. I'm glad people's Parler posts are getting them investigated by the FBI. I'm glad people who attacked the Capitol will face stiff charges and lengthy prison sentences. People who are already down that road need to be punished for crimes they commit. Racism, sexism, any kind of ism should not be tolerated, and as a member of a group these people want to exterminate, I feel that more than most. Their children however, are not evil because they were born to parents who have been brainwashed. Lonely people with mental health issues being left by society are not inherently evil, they are vulnerable. If you don't think about the *causes* behind why these things happen, well, then that old adage about history repeating itself rings true. And you're really not much better than the other side, TBH.

You sound sanctimonious. There's reasons that far right thinking gains traction. If you look over history you will see patterns. Economic instability, a breakdown in social cohesion, demonisation of specific groups, ethnic minorities and women but also people with opposing ideals (which for the current far right would be anyone left of Hitler). Then you throw in media fear propaganda about migrants and how certain ideas/movements are destroying society. It doesn't happen in a vacuum, it happens when people are angry and left to stew, and often it is provoked by the people in power, as happened in Rwanda. So continue to be self righteous AF all you want, while some of us continue to try and prevent a new generation of young people from heading down the same road. If you honestly believe some people are inherently "bad" and cannot be fixed, you're really a short step from someone who wants to throw people in a concentration camp.

I knew someone would be triggered by my post and wouldn't bother to read it. My whole point was to *stop* this from happening. People aren't born racist. They grow up absorbing subtle ideas from a white supremacist society, and if you think you are free of racism, if you grew up in a white country, you're not. We all absorb ideas from the dominant culture we need to question. If you don't know that you've been ignoring half of what BLM has been saying for the past six months. As someone who has been a member of anti-racist movements for years, I have watched far right extremists recruit apolitical young men who feel disconnected and discontented, and turn them into monsters. Many of these men have now had their eyes open and are now fighting from the other side. There are ex-nazi tattoo artists giving free cover-ups to people who are now anti-racist. This selfish black and white thinking from either side is contributing to the problem.

I'm not interested in trying to change the minds of racists. Their minds are made up. Willfully hateful and ignorant people don't change their thinking because someone explains that racism is wrong. And people who manipulate or exploit others for power or financial gain don't listen either. They don't have hearts. I am interested in one thing- winning. I am interested in building social movements that shift the balance of power, and that's it. Everything else is just noise. So please- join something. Volunteer for something. Show up for something, and keep showing up. Because ordinary people, when they unite, can beat the forces of evil. Yes, I said evil. Let me repeat it- we are fighting evil, and if we don't fight back, our society is going to continue to descend into chaos.

There are 56 new billionaires in the world now while people are losing their homes and jobs and homelessness is skyrocketing. These people got rich *because* of the pandemic, because of the suffering and dying of others. This world is fucking sick. If it makes me a socialist to say that I don't think people have the right to own more wealth than some entire countries do while there are starving children with no access to clean water or medicine at home AND abroad, I'll happily wear that label.

How have these people actually managed to start a conversation about free speech? A private company has absolutely nothing to do with free speech, and even if it did, there have always been limits on free speech. I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to incite insurrection online, anymore than I would be allowed to distribute illegal forms of pornography. The way these people warp arguments and then refuse to listen to sense and just shout over the top of you all the time is so infuriating. I swear these people need shut in rooms and deprogrammed like they were a member of the Manson family, this is absolutely a cult, IMO.
