Some of you (at least, definitely one), have never taken sociology and it shows. When you oppress a group of people for so long, the ending result is conflict/violence. Some even argue that violence is the natural result of oppression, always. The reason we have the Civil Rights Act is because people rioted. Violent uprisings are the only thing that scares the shit out of a government enough to actually make lasting changes in legislation. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

It's not really that hard to understand. For generations, people have been lied to in this country about "socialism" and "communism." We've been lied to about 6 month wait lists for heart surgery and testing. We've been lied to about waiting in line for 6 hours to get medication. What we now have is generations of people parroting a lie about "socialized medicine," who vote against their own interests because politicians, who've been bought out by HMOs and drug companies, lied to them FOR DECADES.

No. It is absolutely possible to push someone to take their own life. It is absolutely possible for events caused by other people to drive someone toward suicide. People have been (rightfully) prosecuted and punished for pushing someone into killing themselves. We all live together in this society and actions have consequences.

Anybody else sick and tired of seeing the bad guys win? Because I sure as hell am. I know that the main orange bad guy lost, but it didn't end there like I had dreamed. A whole lot of bad guys are still winning.

Talking of pharma, saw a woman crying on Tiktok about not being able to afford her kid's insulin for the month. I wondered if it could really be that bad, so I checked the private price for a medication I take in my country (no generic available) and it literally would cost me for a month what it costs PER PILL in the US. Not to mention the fact that that medication is basically an old medication which is only under patent because it's a slow release, so the mechanism for that is the patent, the drug itself is 80 years old and frankly, should be cheap as fuck. At this point big pharma looks about as ethical as human trafficking.

I simply do not understand why people in the US are against universal healthcare. It would actually cost you LESS money than the shit insurance coverage you have now. The average Canadian, for example, pays about $6,500 for healthcare a year. Yes, it's a tax. It also covers everything. The average American pays about $8K a year,. (BTW, the federal gov't pays another $10K a year per person on top of all that). So, if you take $6,500 a year out of someone's paycheck and call it a tax, that's unacceptable. But if you take $8K a year out of someone's check, like we do now, and call it a payroll deduction or deductible or co-pay, that's fine. Oh, and don't forget that if you lose your job, you also lose your healthcare.

Do you really think elites want to change things? Things being fundamentally unequal suits them well, if they turn Blacks and whites against each other, then we're not focused on them as they ruin the planet, further erode social safety nets, housing, pay, workplace protection. There is huge money They're not going to change things because we ask them nicely. Biden is just a slightly friendlier face on the same system, he'll sign some bills and little will change. The US outlawed slavery and then the for profit prison system started, inmates are majority Black and work for slave labor wages, including risking their lives fighting fires. Many of these people are in jail for non-violent offences. Meanwhile, Wall Street just basically openly admitted to price fixing with the Robin Hood debacle, think any of those guys will see a jail cell? LOL. Wake up.

Nice revisionist history. Nobody is "burning the entire country and its inhabitants." If you look into what's actually been happening, the rioters tend to burn buildings of big companies who are not Black owned, because it's part of the system of white supremacy. Any small businesses generally get destroyed by accident. here's the thing, Black people have been screaming about this since Rodney King, and NOTHING has changed, NOTHING. And it's not even just Black people. What they taught you about Martin Luther King Jr in school was very biased. He was radical. He was socialist. he went to jail multiple times. He called riots "The language of the unheard." Civil disobedience is what has moved the world forward several times. People have been trying to change things through law and ballot box for decades, nothing. You have ABSOLUTELY no right to tell them to stop, because this is the only way people have ever listened to them.

Yes, we do regularly discuss the effects of systemic racism and sexism in our home. Yes, showing compassion and kindness to everyone does make change. That is the only way to produce GOOD change. What you seem to want is for other people to feel pain because you have felt pain, and that's not the way life works. You can't inflict horror on others because you have felt it. I do not want someone to experience rape because I have been raped. I do not want someone to have an abusive childhood because I had one. I do not want someone to lose their job due to discrimination just because it happened to me. I want people to succeed in spite of my pain. I want people to see that they can be better than what they have been given. I only want to fix the problem and prevent pain from ever happening to anyone. You have to be the change you want to see in others, even if they don't acknowledge your efforts. And you can't force people to see it by screaming at them or abusing them.

You may go to work and raise your kids to be good people, but does that make change? Do you talk to your kids about racism and sexism? When you hear somebody make an inappropriate joke, do you you speak up? Do you stay friends with people like that? Do you just look the other way because it's none of your business? People who do that are no better than people who know the neighbor's kid is being abuse, but let the child continue to be abused because they don't want to get involved. You not doing that to your kids or being a "good" person doesn't make that abuse stop. You're basically saying, "I know these horrible things are happening to people, but it doesn't affect me, so I don't care." That doesn't make you good or kind.
