The issue isn't that the 18 year old white WOMAN was sporting any type of ethnic hairstyle. It's that she used the ignorant and racist tag line that white girls do it better. America's culture is the dominant (white) culture. I suggest you Google the definition of appropriation because you completely missed the point.

All I can think of is the CollegeHumor "Racism Lite" video where the guys says, "The Irish were oppressed too" and takes a drink of Racism Lite.

Natural hair is clearly a big thing for black women. I get that. What I don't get is people in their 20s and 30s ripping apart 18 year old white girls who decided to get dreads apart on Twitter or Instagram. Calling teenagers who just didn't think things through "racist" is not helping anyone. I'm also curious as to who is "black" enough to wear dreads without being called out by the internet hair police. Is a bi-racial girl with white skin but afro hair black enough? America's entire culture is appropriative. As an Irish person I am not appreciative of Americans running around calling themselves Irish and the tacky fiddle playing green-painted pub image they splash around as being part of "Irish culture". I guess it doesn't matter because even though Irish were also slaves who were treated like shit both by the English in Ireland and in the United States, we all all white and therefore appropriation of our culture doesn't "matter".

This thing with the Lyon sisters is crazy. 40 years later and they're suddenly on a roll. I hope their parents get the closure they need.

Laughing at people for how they look is fucked up and beyond immature. Way to go. By the way, Hispanics can be naturally blonde hair blue eyed, even *gasp* Mexicans.

AT my job a Hispanic lady came in with bleached blonde hair and blue contact lenses. Everyone laughed at her when she left, everyone, white Hispanic and black.

On the subject of racism...my DH likes to use the word "Jew" as a verb. As in: "I think he's asking too much money for this, so I'm going to try and Jew him down to something lower". I get so offended when he says that. I tell him it bothers me, but he still lets it slip. He doesn't think he's racist, but when he makes comments like that, I don't know what to think.

I hate this new trend of taking pics of strangers and posting it online to "shame" them. Shit like PoW piss me off, or even posting pics of strangers you take to your own FB. Unacceptable. And it's sick that it's perfectly legal. Public domain my ass. Just because I step outside my house does not mean I consent to be photographed and I surely don't want any pics of me online like that.

Cornrows on white e people may not be racist, but Jamie Deen, son of Paula Deen, wearing brown face as a costume is. I also hate when people dress as Pocahontas for Halloween. She had a horrible life at the hands of colonists. If Disney made Anne Frank into a movie would people be as accepting?
