Yes, I personally found it creepy and gross as hell and I highly highly doubt he has ever had a close female friend, at least not one who doesn't now look at him sideways. Why does my opinion bother you? Are you GRRM? Because if so, I have no trouble saying to your face that I find you creepy and your writing style leaves much to be desired. I'm sure mine is not the only criticism that you've ever received and frankly, I'm sure you'll cry all the way to the bank.

But you didn't voice your opinion about the "literature". You just chose to call GRRM creepy-ass and make assertions about how much contact he had with women.

Dude, I personally find it gross and I'm definitely not the only one who couldn't finish the book for that reason. I don't see why that offends you so much. I'm not trying to wrest your copy out of your hands or ban it at libraries or judge you morally for being able to look past it. I have no idea what your problem is, but you probably need to work on it if my choice in literature makes you so upset.

And in books filled with sex, how exactly does one avoid describing sex in a society when what would today be considered minors, are married? OMG DAAAA PAAAAAAAEEEDDDDOOS. Hand wringing moral outrage and completely innaccurate comparisons FTW.

You do know that George RR Martin is not actually from Westeros, right? He creates a world in his 50-something American mind where it's acceptable to marry a 13 year old (all right, fair enough) but then goes on to describe it all in lurid and gratuitous detail. Just because that doesn't happen to bother you doesn't mean that it's not a legitimate observation about his work. Nobody's calling for censorship, I just stated why I personally found his work unreadable. It's because I think of him the same way I think of American dudes who go to Thailand to have sex with 11 year old boys, stating that "It's considered normal in that culture."

13 years old was a legally marriageable adult in the era comparable to that which GoT was set in. Also, perhaps it's too distant a memory for you to remember, but children do think about their bodies.

Yes, obviously George RR Martin attempted to write strong female characters, but have you noticed how he describes them? He has a huge paragraph about Daenerys (who is supposed to be 13 YEARS OLD) thinking about her breasts as she crosses a courtyard. I've been a 13 year old girl. Nobody does that. If you had bothered to read my comment, you would have realized I was not criticizing the characters themselves, but the way he writes. It's creepy and distracts from the very-good plotline. If there's a comprehension fail it ain't mine.

A Song of Ice and Fire is full of tremendous women...Catelyn Stark, Sansa, Arya, Daenerys, Osha, Ygritte, Brienne and Margaery are all remarkable, strong and wonderful women characters. Clearly some people need reading comprehension classes.

I used to like the spoof movies like "Scary Movie" and "Not Another Teen Movie". I used to get all of the references. Not so much these days.

Irvine Welsh is an amazing author. He can write from anyone's perspective.
